another way to keep chicks warm is the shake up portable hand warmers, those last for 8-12 hours but make sure you put them on one end of the container and covered so the chicks can move toward them if cold or away if too hot. and won't see them to peck at them.
keeping them out of the wind is a big thing.

Hello! Yes, I do bring young chicks to swaps. Like hoppy said, you have to keep them out of the wind. I usually bring a small cardboard box with straw in it, then put a picture on the outside of what is for sale. That way, the chicks can heat the box themselves, as long as it is small enough for the number of chicks...

Anyone know if there will be any swaps farther north? I went to one in Houlton last year and was hoping I wouldn't have to travel 4 hours to attend one LoL I'll probably have some chickens to sell and looking to buy a duck if I don't have one by the next swap.

last yr there was swaps at the maine potato growers hall (I think nurse nettie posted those) and I heard bangor TSC was doing swaps but not heard for this yr.

I'm excited to say that by the weekend I should be able to post a date for the WATERVILLE TSC swaps.

I know the date but firming it up- it will be in May.

posting this for a friend-
Model 1502 Incubator, comes with 5 gallon water tank, 6 plastic egg trays that each hold 59 pheasant or bantam eggs. Other trays for ducks or turkeys will fit, but this one has the pheasant/bantam trays. This incubator is in perfect working condition and cleaned. It just needs to be plugged in and you are ready to hatch! $450 Price is firm. sorry, no E-mail, call for more info 207-314-1352 located in winslow maine

and Waterville TSC swap has been scheduled!!! may 13th sunday. plan is that is this goes well, they will be the 2nd sunday of the month until Oct.
it will be a poultry swap to start but as it goes on, we may change to a farm days. they are reserving 10 spots in the parking lot for vendors- each vendor gets 2 spots- one for your vehicle and one for your stuff so you pull straight through and sell out of the back of your vehicle or at least you have one full parking stall for all your stuff. anyone that shows up late will probably still have space as there is a total of about 15 spots but only the first 10 will be reserved for the swap and roped off.

8:30-2:00 and plan is to have drinks and maybe popcorn available.

Hey hoppy,

Your friend's ad for the incubator said that the price was firm, but what is the price exactly? Just curious, I may be interested. Oh, and what brand is it? The ad just says "Model 1502"...
