Any one going to the March 31st swap in Augusta? I am in desperate need to re-home my 3 Aracauna x Orph roo's and sisters Splash Orph Roo. Possibly looking for some Kacki Cambpell ducklings.

great widget, I hope you can get at least one swap going, they tend to snowball after that.
cheepylove, i'm going to the augusta swap. i don't need any mroe roosters but bring yours along. there generally is someone that cruises the parking lot for extra roos. check out the augusta swap thread and post on there what you are bringing and what you are looking for, hopefully you can make a connection.

Hey Hoppy,

I was talking to my mom about starting the Lewiston swap again, and it sounds like we are going to be able to work it out, but I have to talk to my dad about it! Cross your fingers!

ETA: If I was planning on bring some chicks to a swap, what are people looking for? BO, BR, JG, etc?

PS Did anyone notice that the smiley with his fingers crossed is gone?

you mean this one?

that's great, I hope you do the Lewiston swap, that would be awesome!!!

as far as what to bring to the swaps, people are looking for 2 things, point of lay hens/pullets or cheap chicks. not so much the breed although I found last yr I had to just about give away my show quality wyandottes bantams, ready to lay. so I won't do bantams again. people want large fowl. that is what I have found. your milage may vary.
as the swap progress to later in the season, people are not as fussy about age except in the fall, they don't want chicks and tons of roosters are looking for homes.
I generally have someone lined up to come get the extra roos at the swaps in the fall but in the spring, most that are looking for roos, are looking for breeding stock.

Yes! THAT one!! Where did you find it?? LOL... I swear that it wasn't there earlier! LOL JK

Sorry it took me so long to catch up on this, I honestly forgot to check this thread!

Widget, maybe its something we can work together on? I just feel way too brand new to chickens to try and put this together myself. I don't even have stuff to bring to the swaps! (I just go and buy more chickens, which thrills my husband you know

) And with the kids and a daycare, we tend to be a busy bunch here! But maybe if we tag team it, it can be something we can manage?
I might be interested, thanks to Hoppy's encouragement, but I am not 100% sure yet. I am actively looking for a part-time job for the summer since my current one is ending soon. For some reason airplanes don't need to be de-iced when the temperatures are about freezing.

Weekends are the best time for me to pick up hours at second job so I don't know how much free time I will have. I hate working seven days a week but with everything going up in prices and my paycheck staying the same I have to work more just to pay for the basic necessities.

then make sure you subscribe to this thread so you can't forget about us, that makes us sad.

Central Maine Bird Fanciers montyly meeting pot luck lunch at noon (please bring a food item to share), meeting at 1:00 with auction to follow.
Evening Star Grange hall on Bill Luce Rd. We will have the new Maine breeders directory available at this meeting and be discussing the upcoming show in Windsor.

Sounds good. Between the two of us I'm sure we could make it interesting if nothing else.

. I should have something to sell by the end of April so I could at least show up with something besides an EZ up tent. I do know the first weekend in May is out for me. I have to work. And on May 13th I am planning on attending a seminar at Pineland. Dr Temple Grandin is the speaker so I really want to go to that.
