Maine chicken swaps 2010

Quote:
It was nice to see you again, Hoppy!

I sold all but five cockerels (gee, no one wants roosters?? lol)

Ryan and I had to stay to the bitter end - cooping out was after the auction AND the raffle (ugh)

I learned my lesson - don't bother to enter birds in the show and you can leave at will!!!!!

Now on to the Skowhegan swap on June 19th!!!

Was planning on attending Windsor - but it didn't work out

Hoppy, the chicks are doing well & I will update with pictures when their feathers come in a bit more.
Had a bit of a scare and near miss last night with my broody & her new eggs...still recovering from that adventure!

Does anyone know what they're planning on having at Skowhegan?

(What I plan for them to look like when they're older):

They're Easter Egger Cochins.

They came from a black Ameraucana hen and a Splash Cochin rooster, and are a blue color. Although one looks more like a Splash. The ones in this photo may not be the exact ones I'm planning on selling, but I'm planning to hatch out some more of this same mix breed.

I don't know if I will make it to skowhegan, not much to sell. hatching now are light sussex, col. wyandottes, most others are due after skowtown of blue lace red wyandottes. tonight I'm setting 14 blr wyandottes, and 6 whites.

anybody know of any other maine swaps not already listed? showhegan is the next one june 19th and then I have nothing else listed until august.

Nope, I don't know of any. I don't know if I'll be attending this upcoming one on June 19th...It would be a pretty long trip for me...I'll have to convince my dad to bring me.

Tell me about it! I was torn - upset about the eggs, but glad she was okay.

As promised Hoppy, here are a few pictures of the chicks.
These are all at about 2.5 weeks old with the 3 week old Barred Rocks (These were taken about two weeks ago - so I really need to get updated ones!)

I'm thinking that this little guy is a rooster - which kind of excites me because I've also got Buff Orpington chicks which I hear have a tendancy to go broody and I would love to try this broody hatching thing again next year!

This one makes the size difference look quite dramatic - but the little BLRW is quite little, even compared to her siblings! She's the only with a name so far: Sweetie Pie. She likes to hop up on the edge of their box and roost on my fingers or sleep in the palm of my hand. She has quite the little personality!!
