Mine on the standard cochins!!! LOL I really do want some little pullets if you have them, particularly splash.

What color Silkies??

Looks like I ma going to have some RIR chicks, some blue and black bantam cochins and a few Ameraucana (nice out of show stock, I'm told) an Araucana with tail and no tufts, so I guess you could call him an EE and maybe some Silkie roos of pet quality.

I can send a flyer out to Clark's auction tomorrow if no one is doing it already.

I will be picking up Knight's Gift Certificate tomorrow as I am out of layer pellet, and Hemphill's donation on Wednesday.

Regarding food for ChickenStock:

We're going to be bringing lots of drinks (soda, water, juice boxes), a bit less of the sandwich stuff than I originally planned, but more of the homemade baked goods. I"m going to bring whoopie pies, cookies, brownies, and I'm going to make homemade blueberry muffins with organic, hand-picked in my own backyard fresh that morning blueberries!

Yummy! If I get the time and energy, I'll also make some homemade horse cookies to sell. I will be selling raffle tickets for one giant whoopie pie as a fundraiser for our rescue as well, and I'm working on trying to get a home heating oil company to donate 100 gallons of home heating oil so I can raffle that off too.

We just got in two horses that have been seriously neglected and are very thin so I really need to raise some cash! I hope this goes well!!!!

I definitely would take a young guinea cock if she's got one (if she can tell). I lost my male and the hen is getting depressed, she's really not happy trying to be a chicken. No sign of my visitors so we're keeping our fingers crossed. If you know you're bringing one I'll make sure I run over.

I was so frustrated today when I went into the local weekly paper to have them run the add...so sorry guys, but it was $69.69 for a 4x3 add. I almost flipped, I said to the woman about it being a free event and money will be going to the horse rescue and she shrugged her sholders like 'so what'.
That hurt me, if it had been $30, I could have footed that, but holy cow.
So, needless to say, I hung posters at the local stores and will call that enough. We are over an hour away, so anyways its still looking good, those folks at a store were thrilled to hang the sign, spread the word about it too. If they had said donation- I'd have jumped for joy! But a sign is so much better then what I recieved at the local paper. Bummer.
Well, have a great day, stay cool and find a smile.

Spook you have a big heart. What about if you call the paper and see if they'll do a story on it. Free advertising. You know, money is tight, prices are rising, people are fed up with mass meat production and the deplorable conditions the animals have to endure, so there is a growing movement in Maine to produce eggs and meat. They might very well interview you.

Mjmaw, we are up to a headcount of 5. My dh decided to come and so all our kids will be going as well. I think he is supervising exactly what comes home with me.

Hang in there, you gave it a good try. I'll check around tonight and see if any of the radio stations do free event announcements. I should have thought of it earlier, I know some of them have to know 2 weeks in advance.

I do have the GC in hand for Knight's. They also want me to drop off some kind of paperwork so they can use it as a deduction. I told them I would drop it off Wednesday and he was fine with that idea.

I sent a flyer to Clark's auction this morning.

Thank you guys, I thought about a article, but the way the girl read the sign I had made up, she gave it the stink eye and it wasn't "Local" .
I have placed plenty of flyers around town and I bet there will be more then we can imagine! Even if it was just us folks, it would still be fun!
Have a wonderful evening and soon the festivities will begin!
