Maine Farm Fest - date changed Oct 25th sunday Augusta TSC

Last time I was at the Windsor Fairgrounds for a chicken event, the auction was mostly (if not entirely) non-livestock. I expected there to be chickens up for auction and was surprised that was not the case.

Also, the 2-3 times I have been there was a concurrent goat event. Does anyone know if there will be goats on the grounds tomorrow?

Thanks.

I'm back from the show, no goats this time just poultry. large number of birds not so many for sale and didn't appear that the few that were for sale were selling. I came home with my 2 that I brought. one of mine looks more blue then black when I got it out in the sun. so if anyone is wanting blue or black cochin bantams- selling as a pair $20. these are from frizzle stock but are not frizzled themselves. I found out i have to work on the 24th, my only saturday that I do have to work, so I can't make the swap. I am willing to meet in augusta possibly a different day.

Yeah, I stopped by this morning and was disappointed at the lack of goats and the small number of sellers. My memory of there being lots more bantams than standard sized chickens was also refreshed.

It wasn't a bad day for a ride in the country, though.

Hey, I've got a six month old Delaware cockerel that could use a new home. This is him a few weeks ago:

He's been a good boy, he is not terrorizing his 11 hens and has not been aggressive toward me or my kids. He is an early riser, though!

Please let me know if you are interested, I'm in Standish and probably won't make the trip to Augusta unless it is to drop this guy off to his new owners.

HI Hoppy! Thanks very much for posting the CSwap and Farm Fest - I just posted it in the same index and hopefully it won't get all confusing ...

Looking for a kind, free-range 'pets' type home for my three - Henny a Golden Comet who just started to lay a month ago, Farmer the roo Golden Comet, thats Henny's best friend and possibly a Maran named Margaret Hatcher - a bit older and layer of great eggs. Henny and Farmer need to go together.
Must be kind owners and free range!
Thanks!

But my dad might. Is anyone bringing any Bantam breeds? (such as Bantam Cochins?) We are thinking about breeding a bunch of different Bantams and "interesting breeds"... right now we have a purebred buff Bantam Cochin hen, a mix splash cochinXbuff orpington pullet, etc. and we want to breed her and the Bantam Cochin hen to a rooster.

In fact, when all of our red stars and egg layers pass away, we are thinking about starting a whole flock of mixed breeds of Bantams and stuff for selling and showing.
