Maine Swaps 2011

at august and the fall swaps people are looking for birds that will be grown, so I'm done hatching too, just growing and weeding things out. I've not had much luck selling new little chicks in the fall, they have ended up either being given away or kept until spring.

I agree hoppy and also I think that folks are looking for layers ready to lay. Its been unusual for the past year, folks only want adults. What I find at the fall swaps is that most show up with roosters. Granted some people are looking for a rooster but the reality is that folks that get the rooster free take it home to eat. I don't mine, better them then me!
Also, August I really questioned having a Chickenstock as usually the weather is so hot that its not humane to have your birds out on pavement. We did choose to have one so that those who want birds still have time to raise the younger ones up previous to cold weather. Also, it hits just prior to fair seasons.

I am not so sure why something seems to be personal going on here but I agree with placing it into PM's or taking it up with one of the Moderators. They can take care of any issue at hand if you feel your being pointed or singled out. Also, one way to ensure that you have items correctly listed is to begin listing them yourself so that one of us can copy and paste it correctly or next year be ready to help hoppy.

Personally I began the first opening page as hoppy needed help and no one else seemed to be around... no more needs to be said. Let us finish out this year, enjoy our remaining swaps because they are supposed to be fun events, teaching and learning!

Is everyone done hatching yet

We are pretty much done and will have hatching eggs for those that are not ready to quit yet.
These will be mixed dozens from the following breeds: Bantams: Modern Games, D'Anvers, Silkie and Faverolle. They are all purebred and from show and tested stock, can not say how many of what breed there will be right now they are all laying great!! $10.00 per mixed dozen. Let me know and will collect fresh.

Also have 14 muscovy duck eggs that were just collected in the last two day and would sell them for $15.00

Will Also post these on the swap threads

I have over loaded myself Laura, omg, I have more chicks then I know what to do with! Its great though to know who has what breeds and which direction to send folks off to. How is your young lady doing with showing birds this year or has she graduated onto greener pastures? (smile- she is a teen after all!!!)

Have a great show season!

Hey I know people that hatch all year round...

She is NOT allowed to get out of birds, she has had many threats from others

Although she was ready to quit when 3/4 of her flock was wiped out over the winter, most all her show birds are in breeding pens right now. Her pigeons didn't get hit so she has plenty of those to show. She is heavy into reptiles right now. Not really into boys yet thank goodness.

If anyone has some muscovies available I am looking for a couple more hens or a few youngsters to grow out. I have two drakes who are pestering my one hen so I need to balance out the gender ratio a bit.

And I now might have some chickens to bring to the Scarborough swap or the next Sanford swap. A co-worker had some chicks ready to hatch out but doesn't want all of them so he is giving them to me. No idea what breed or mix yet. I'm planning on keeping a few and finding homes for the rest.

I just started a thread for the Scarborough TSC swap scheduled for July 16th. I was just there today and they already have a sign up advertising it. The parking lot is a bit on the small side compared to the other TSC stores I have visited and there is no shade.

(I'm not the person organizing this event but figured I would start the new thread to get the word out.)

Nancy told me that Dennis from Winslow had some red cochins for sale at the Wilton swap.
