Erm... thanks for the picture. I couldn't picture it in my head. The whites are almost majestic looking... the partridge is cute but kinda reminds me of ALF.

Silkies do not have hair

they have feathers like any other bird - just no barbs in their feathers so they don't hold together like other chickens feathers do . As far as winter goes if they are kept dry older birds do great no different then any other . I have a friend that keeps his in a rabbit style hutch and cage - his slept on the wire most of the winter he never lost a silkie and they started laying eggs before mine did in their nice cozy barn .~~ Tammy
