Where and what is the Basket Show?

where is: the at the farmington fair grounds and what it is is:
a poultry show that you enter that day of the show. what I heard was in the history of the basket show, people brought their birds in a basket (or made baskets to sell) for a quick show. so basicly you don't have to enter before hand, you enter the day of the show.

Hi feather lady! The Basket Show is held by the Northern New England Bird Fanciers Club. We have a swap going on, an auction, a yard sale table, And we also have a little poultry show going on. Its at the FARMINGTON FAIR GROUNDS in Farmington. There will also be someone there to make breakfast and lunch. I believe the time is 9am to 1 or 2. There will also be someone there to test birds for NPIP. Your welcome to stop by and check it out!

I'm not sure where I'm going at this point!

Wilton is close but I have other responsibilities that make swaps difficult (those who know me know Ryan)

I have 8 Hampshire Reds (4 cockerels, 4 pullets) and 5 Rhode Island Reds (one cockerel, 4 pullets) that are 6 weeks old - for sale for $5.00 each if anyone wants to come to Temple to pick them up. They’ll cost $8.00 each if I have to haul them to a swap.

I also have Bantam Porcelain d’Uccle chicks and Bantam Buff Cochin chicks – too young to be sold separately at a swap. Again…..$5.00 each if you choose to come to lovely Temple, ME (6 miles west of Farmington, ME)

I'll have Black Astrolops (all pullets) 3 or 4 Silver laced Wyndottes, All around 6 weeks old. White Silkie Chicks ages vary. I will also be selling my 1& 1/2 yr.old Americauna Laying hens @ $20.00 each. I might bring a pair of Mammoth Bornze Turkey poults $50.00 for the pair. Or if someone would like them sooner can contact me and drive to Lovely Temple to pick them up. I also have Show Quality Silkies for sale. My Flock is NPIP & AI Tested.
Not sure where I will end up at.

I wish it would stop raining!

Going to try to make this one, my Sunday work schedule has changed so going to try to find coverage.

Have several still.

3 hen turkeys left, royal palm, narri and a beltsville white.
Pairs of bantams, all from show stock and have been in breeding pens and hatching from them, late last year birds..
Quail D'Anvers
White Old English (not dubbed yet)
Mille Fluer D'Anvers

Silkie Roo's
Birchen Modern Game, young guy-not dubbed yet.

Nice group of American Fantail pigeons. These guys can be shown come for good stock, she is just cutting out this breed.

Also going to let all our Little Giant incubators go, all have turners $35. and one has the fan kit included $45.

6 muscovy ducklings (sold)

one very large muscovy drake, one year old, just do not need three drakes running the yard.

Also have a pot belly pig that could use a new family, he's a great little guy. Would prefer he be farm picked up, they don't really care to travel

I have several age groups of silkies I'll be bringing . Most are PQ but their are a few (BQ-SQ) I really don't know how to decide what is BQ to what is SQ . I figure if you think they qualify for breeding then you should be able to show them

-just some of my little brain thoughts . And some speckled sussex crosses -these are awsome bantams . They lay eggs better then my large fowl every have even in sub zero weather !! Multipurpose also great little roaster if you don't want to raise for eggs . I feed 2-3 bantams with what it cost to feed 1 lg fowl isn't that crazy -- the eggs are smaller in size but 2 to 3 instead of 1 hmmmm . Well I'm not sure but I beleive my OH is also comming to this one and he will be thinning out a few of his pens also . he has buffs - Copper marran crosses - and maybe a couple young geese . He is so undecided LOL . It looks like great weather - maybe a little hot so bring something to help shade your animals if you can !! Cranberry creek have you been drinking raspberry tea ? it will help strength your uterious and make child birth a little easier

tammy,
a BQ bird might be a bird that has a defect ie: lost a toe so no longer showable but it's not genetic issue.
