Some one on FB claims to have had a hatch rate of 5/6 of FROZEN eggs.
Saw it on the internet, must be true!

I gave the girls some left over spaghetti this afternoon. They've never shown an interest in it before, but they chowed down so much that their crops are rock hard. I hope they won't be damaged by such a huge starch load. How worried should I be???
Somewhere between "not at all" and "slightly curious as to their new interest in spaghetti" would by my entirely non-expert opinion. Then again, I'm just a crazy *******.

My girls survived the spaghetti overload this morning. they were sassing me as usual when I went out to check on them... their crops were empty. I had nightmares of exploding crops from swelling spaghetti last night!

Ducky: hatching frozen eggs... Cryogenics??? !!!!!!!!!!

So the weekend is gone. Yay! Maybe my egg eaters are reforming. Friday-5/6. Saturday-4/6.Sunday-4/6. I put little curtains in the nest boxes. At first I thought it was a bad idea because they kept going back and forth in front of the nests like they couldn't find them any more. Then one by one they figured it out. At least for 2 of the boxes. They are funny little creatures. I am jealous of all the people with baby chicks. They are so sweet.Maybe next year for me. Have fun today everyone!

You're safe for now DowGirl. I stopped in on my way through town this afternoon, and not a peep to be seen. Soon, though! I figure I'd be safe to add a couple of TSC peeps any time after 3/15, but only if they have just what I want!

Any one know which egg is typically darker... RIR or PBR?

Assuming PBR being Barred Rock, mine lay a light egg. Medium tan I guess you can say. I don't want to photo-bomb so just check my previously posted egg photo. The lighter tan eggs are from the BR. I have noticed they are getting darker as they get bigger, but won't ever be as dark as the eggs from my Red Stars.

Just my $.02

Thanks for checking for me, lazy gardener! I'll keep you posted, too-that's just the kind of friend I am.
