How are you scalding them when they're that big? I got a turkey stuck in a bucket 2 years ago. It was a heritage breed so no where near as big as yours.

I invested in one of those giant 160qt bayou classic stock pots and propane burner to match. Works pretty good, gets the water to temp in about 30 minutes with the propane bottle wide-open.

Took us a bit to figure out lifting them out of that though, a 41lb dressed bird is probably more like 60+ intact and soaked.... brute force got exhausting pretty quick. We figured out to use a piece of pipe to put between the legs (which were banded together with zip ties) so two people could lift them out.

I did 2 yesterday that look like they'll be bigger, my wife is on the way to Boucher's right now to get them split. I'm guessing closer to 50lb.

Her breathing sounds alot better this afternoon. Her poops are still really small. She's been moving around all day and when she sees me she has been clucking and purring. That's a better sign then what I have had when I checked on her the past couple days. And her huge energy spurt this morning was great.

She just laid an egg! Odd coloring but she laid. Happy chicken momma! And she's barely wheezing or gurgling. Antibiotics must be working. About time for second dose. How long should she get the antibiotic? And what is the egg withdrawal time after when given orally? I have read numerous posts of a week after her last dose.
