Maine

Bwah, hah, hah Widget, been there done that already this spring with my QH, Grace. She loves to have me chase her waits til I almost get my hand on her halter, bucks and tears off. She might as well just look at me and say, I will let you catch me when I am good and ready! Fortunately, I live on a dirt road so there is not much traffic. She likes the neighbors yards when loose. I have to film her next time she has an escapade, ears forward, tail set and beautiful movement. She does like to put a nice twist in her buck, The last time she got out I got complacent and did not lead her all the way out the barn door, so she turned around when I went in her stall and headed for the other door. My hallway is too narrow for both of us so I could not get along side her, and she totally ignored the fact that I grabbed hold of her tail and kept saying whoa!, she evidently does not consider that a cue, LOL, and just kept walking until she exited the barn.
Aggravating but hilarious, what would we do without our critters?
Gosi is a cutie, BTW!

Leeks don't take up much room Hoppy. I put mine in with the onions, - only about 6 inches apart, and they get to be about the same size, maybe a foot tall.
I use a piece of rebar to drill a little hole, and drop them in. Easy to plant and grow (although slugs and snails can be a nuisance).

Not if you get ducks! They don't ravage your garden like chickens and geese but they LOVE slugs.

HI everyone, I'm new to the site- from Farmingdale. We are currently in the construction phase with our coop, and plan to not insulate. My Husband is from Shirley Mills, and had chickens growing up and said the never insulated, and the chickens were always fine...Let's hope ours will be too!

Welcome Mainechick, I am from Monmouth.

Ugh, I have 5 cream legbar cockerals. Guess that is the problem with auto sexing. Don't want to grow them up to just give away and can't kill cuz they are so cute :/ . Anyone want them? We don't process our birds so that isn't an option to grow out for that either....

Do you do them yourself or take them somewhere? We have our first batch of meaties ready to go ASAP, but have had a hard time finding a place to process them for us. As it stands right now we are taking them to west gardiner beef to do them when they start. I did find someone a bit closer to me that could do them, but wanted 2x as much per bird. Anyway, if you (or anyone else here!) knows a place that will do them for us I would be forever grateful!
