Maine

I'm keeping that particular bird but I will and do have other solid colors that I will be selling starting this weekend in skowhegan. I'll have a limited number of paints with me but I will have solids not sure what colors I will bring, anything in partridge and one show girl.

Wow, pretty. What do you know about Houdins? I haven't seen many and a friend has a couple she is offering me. I read a bit about them. Five toes like Silkies but polish with caps. Seemed neat. Does anyone keep them here in Maine? I was thinking that one of your birds might be okay for my daughter (with my help of course) but if you are keeping them then ... maybe a Houdin for her?

HELP: Looking for a nice black/lav split roo AM to breed to my hens. Anyone??

I just got some houdans for a couple of my projects....very cute chicks and I absolutely love their beards. So far I am liking them...

One of my 9 week old wyandottes is spitting up a lot. The other chickens come over to her and try to eat what comes up. It doesn't smell and is like a clear mucousy type of vomit- you can see what she's eaten in it. I heard it might be "sour crop" or something like that and wondering if anyone has any tricks to help?
You could try plain yogurt but I'm new and know nothing. If you use yogurt be sure to use your own homemade or Dannon plain because the other brands kill off their bacteria before shipping.

You have so many cool birds!! If Hoppy will sell me a bird for my daughter that would be nice but I'm not going to Skowhegan with a 3 mos old!! Brunswick swap coming up? Is there a thread for it yet?

yeah, traveling to a swap with an infant is not something I would do. Heck, I wouldn't take most of my kids, I would be too stressed trying to keep track of them

yes, cool breeds indeed. I am getting some choc lf orp eggs from Korfus Kluckers by next week as long as her hens cooperate, then I gotta turn the bator off until I can finish my chicken "community"

on another note, this is what we did this past weekend
this is after dh moved a few logs and I got out there saturday morning

and this was sunday morning

and then by sunday night I got in almost 100 strawberry plants, those are raspberry bushes to the right and the immediate front. right below the raspberry in front are 3 blueberry bushes that are just getting some leave(since I fenced in my free range girls

) and to the left are some more blueberries and some still in pots that will get planted when dh can drag some more logs out to make another garden to the left of this. I also have a few grape plants far back on the right that I planted late last year and I am so happy they are growing well too

Does anyone have any day old to week old bantams that are for sale in the Gorham Maine area? I just got an order in and one was lost on delivery I am looking to replace it so that I have six. Please PM with details.

No new chicken stories but I do have a new family addition. A rescue about 8 months old. After only one week she has learned her name, Serina. She knows sit, walks well in a leash and is learning to sit and wait when she gets her food. She is respectful of the other dogs, cats, horses and goats. Interested in the free ranging Muscovies but a quick 'Leave it' is working when she gets too curious. She has to be one of the friendliest dogs I have ever owned. She is happiest when she is giving kisses and/or snuggling on the couch and bed.
