Maine

Hi Mainers. Thought I would introduce myself :) I live in Milford, ME and I have bantam cochins, polish, coturnix quail, and a lot of pigeons. I was showing my pigeons at the Windsor show last week so I'm sure I ran into some of you.
Anyway, I am looking for some oriental gamefowl breeds. Anyone in the state know of any local breeders?
I was at the Windsor Show too. I was the lady pushing the kid in the wheelchair lol

I raise Bantam Cochins, LF Cochins and Belgian Bearded d'Uccles.

thank you anna,
and welcome snow petals, I checked the central maine breeders directory, no oriental game bird breeders only old english games. although, I will pm you with the name of someone that might be able to help you.

Dont times like that just suck? Sometimes people just cant see outside their own little world and can really offend. My favorite is usually when a certain someone close to me complains about how busy they are. They have one child and work one day a week. I have 4 kids, 2 of whom are really active in school stuff (the other 2 arent old enough yet) and run a daycare 5 days a week. And yet she still likes to tell me how busy and "over worked" she is. It makes my skin crawl. But I have decided that she must do this with me because she needs the encouragement. I know shes not doing it to be mean or thoughtless, but still.......

Hello snowpetals and

hey, anyone in the augusta area that is willing to give me a hand moving a treadmill from augusta to albion. I need a truck to move this, it's not really big but won't fit in my car. also needs to be moved down 1 flight of stairs before it can be loaded but I might be able to have that done prior to pick up. pay is $20.

I'd start on the goats tomorrow if I could, but husband says one thing at a time! Which I suppose is smart, we have a lot of camping/hiking plans this summer..maybe next year. I want Nigerians for a couple of reasons one being that they are so darn cute!! on a more serious side though, they are very friendly and easy to keep, I like their smaller size, and they produce milk with a high butterfat content, making it sweeter. I love chevre, so I figure I could make some of my own!

You are in a good area for farms too! Jefferson and Whitefield are full of them...not to mention if you head towards Camden- Appleton is a great spot.
Funny you mention nannying- I did it for 3 years, then started working for headtstart, but I am going back to nanny for the family I was with just a few hours a week so I can finally finish school full time. When I was little I always told people I was going to be an artist who lived on a farm and was a teacher too....maybe I'll get there!!

Nigerians are definitely cute!! I was totally loving on them back at the Windsor show, haha. Chevre is delicious. I bought some locally made chevre last week at our town's co-op, seasoned with garlic and dill... DELICIOUS! I need to try and find better crackers than the stale wheat thins I'm stuck with, hah. It just doesn't do that stuff justice!

Oh man, I was driving through Jefferson and Whitefield the other day, and there was so much land for sale! I was dying. If only I wasn't 21 and broke. Fortunately, I may have found a nannying position on a homestead (!!!) that sounds absolutely perfect for me. It's in Appleton. Maybe they'd let me have a goat on the property! That's awesome you're going to be nannying a little bit again. It's a great way to earn money if you love kids.

ok, I need to vent. I just got off the phone with a former co-worker (sort of my supervisor) and we are friends outside work. I was on the phone with this person for 45 mins and since we don't work together anymore, I would think she would ask me what I've been doing. No, it was all about her and her pets and her new cat. well that's nice, but she knows I've probably not gotten another job and tells me all about how much money she spent on toys and food for her 4 birds- I'm sorry, I don't have that extra money to spend on myself, much less my pets. I was having an ok day until i talked with her, now I feel like crap. I have to stay on her good side if I ever want to be called back to work but I don't think I'll be calling her again anytime soon.

I'm sorry to hear about that. :( People can be really insensitive.

I think that the couple who run the Maine Fun Farm had some. I checked their card but it only says 'Exotic Pheasants." Worth a try? Here's their info:

Rain, rain go away come again after we have had the chance to dry out and soak up some vitamin d because we only get it for a little while here in Maine anyway and you are taking that opportunity away from us all not to mention the fact that I have a house full of children that would really like to go outside and play without fear of being swept away.
