Cool rooster story, Paulajon!
That is one thing I love about chickens, - just watching all those types of interactions and ways they communicate. It seems like I learn something new every week.
Which makes me wonder if other animals do these cool things and I just don't notice, or if it has to do more with a flock mentality, or what. I mean, it doesn't seem like watching a herd of cows would be quite so interesting, but I've never done that (at least not for more than a few minutes!).
it was so interesting and intertaining, makes ya wonder what animals do that we never see.

This is one of the coolest stories I have read about a rooster. I watched mine making sure he brought food to his favorite hen and guarding her in little circles while she ate but not giving 'flowers' so to speak. That is pretty great. How is he with you?
Thanks, He came after me twice , he's just turning a yr. old. the first time i used a plastic snow shovel and just kept pushing him back and making him go where I wanted him to go I did this till he was tottally worn out and exhausted. the second time he came after me I did the same thing and he gave in really quick. so far so good, he follows me sometimes looking for food, I was sitting in a lawn chair today and he came over and stood by me for awhile. he will come to me if I call him, or the girls so I'm hoping that he will be a good boy. He has an awesome personality and is amusing to watch. He is a really smart rooster and hopefully we now have an understanding lol......

Have a dozen Black Copper Hatching eggs if any one is interested, $15.

That is very tempting, but not this time.

I've decided to establish a 50 chicken limit here. I'm at 47 now. 7 will be going to freezer camp, but I already have plans to pick up a few this summer. How did this happen in such a short time? I am a victim of chicken math! :p

Just to let everyone know......

Right now, I have hatching eggs for sale from my d'uccles....porcelain and mille fleur. I have lots of eggs, full incubators and will sell a dozen for $15.00

I'll be at the Farmington Aubuchon's Swap on July 8th

By then I will have d'uccle chicks, bantam cochin chicks ( 8 wks old), a couple of production red pullets (3 mo) and a Large Fowl splash pullet.

And hatching eggs depending on the mood of my hens!

I live in Temple, ME - a short drive from Farmington - west on Rt 43 to the Intervale rd, 8 tenths of a mile beyond the red school house.

Hahahaha. That is right down the road from me. Mu Hubby would kill me if I got any more chickens ! we have 34 right now. I saw 6 RIR chicks and decided that I needed them since I didn't have that breed yet.
