Isolating the Dominant Buff Orp Didn't work. I brought her back in with everyone yesterday afternoon while they were out free and this morning she was back to pecking at everyone.

She is a beautiful big Buff Orp and I hate to let her go. I will be down to 4 now
Does anyone who has more outgoing birds want to trade for her? One way or another she has got to go. Either to someone else or she will be dinner I think.

I only have the one coop and don't have many other options as to what I can do with her.

Everyone got along just fine when she was not around.

You'll be fine if we have another winter like last year, but of course we can't count on that. You can always use square bales of hay or straw to either go around the base or put some inside if there is room. Can also seal up big cracks with duct tape or something else they won't pick on. Don't need to insulate, it's just a safety thing for us as we are on a hill and the wind howls through here out of the north in winter.

We tried as hard as we could to seal up all the seams really tight- other than the vents at the top, I'm thinking it is pretty air tight. It is also backed up pretty close to a big stand of white pines, which I hope will act as a wind block or sorts. I like the idea of using some hay for extra insulation though- cheap and easy to find! Just my style!

Maybe you could try pinless peepers, if you are not against using them. We have a leghorn who is a stubborn feather picker. She wears the peepers full-time now.

We have a little guy. Never really "trying" to get rid of any, but we have 5 roos now, confirmed!! Hahaha One EE, one Spangled Hamburg, two little banty ones, and our little polish

You should be just fine! Hopefully it will not be too brutal this year, altho we are due for one. You can always do something else if need be, but sound like you have it under control real well. As long as they will have water, they'll be okey-dokey.

What a shame! Just goes to show you there are bullies in the entire animal kingdom. She might just have a screw loose and be a mentally deranged girl, and there's not much to do with that. Had a GORGEOUS arucana rooster who was my love, so friendly, I could cuddle him, and he turned bad overnite. Attacked the hens, injured a few (they recovered) and then he turned on me. Had to shoot him. He was HUGE probably 20 lbs, so when he came after me that was it. And you can imagine what he did to the girls. Sometimes it just happens, and doubt you will be able to swap or sell her, will probably happen again. She might as well end up in your pot as opposed to someone else's. It's tough, they are beautiful birds,have had buffs, loved 'em, but even very beautiful humans are sometimes not nice people. The chickens are already eying their hay... meet Amos and Augustina.

They screamed the ENTIRE way home. We had to go through "downtown" Gardiner and Augusta... we got a lot of attention.



No projectile vomit, so far, but it is early in the goat game.
