Maine

well my kitty has kidney problems which is what I suspected we'll see how it goes. just an update on the chicken poo that my vet checked for me. I had put a drop of ivermectin pour on on each silkie about 3 weeks ago all of their poo was clear, yay. My layers have been treated with nothing and their poo has showed up with roundworm eggs, so will be closing for two weeks of not selling eggs why they are being treated with wazine. lot to do hopefully be back on here later to catch up.

I'm right in Lagrange...

Can you message me and if you have them still we would love one!

maine chick, awesome on the egg and bonus she knew where to put it!
Paulajon, did the vet offer you fluids for your cat? i did fluids with my cat for a few months and then she was good for 5 yrs. my other cat I did fluids (under the skin, not iv for both cats) and he lived 1 more yr but when they crash, they crash hard. might be something to look into, if no improvement after a few weeks of treating, then it's probably a lost cause.
finally tally on babies is 8 paint, 4 blue but lost one blue when I moved it to a foster mom and it got into the wrong pen. if all goes well overnite, the 2 mommies will get some more babies to foster in the morning.

amazing! I still only have one girl laying and they are all almost 23 weeks. Come one girrrrrrrrrls!
WAHOO. I've finally got an egg! I just went out and found it in the nest box- I suspect it was Gerda the Barred Rock- who is 22 weeks today. Let's hope the rest of the ladies get the idea!

I see a lot of people talking about worms and treating for them. Other than looking in the poop and seeing the actual worm are there any other signs to look for? Also, what do the worms in poop look like? I know what to look for in cats and dogs but not in chickens!

Why am I only getting 1-3 eggs a day from my 19 laying hens ? 1 of them is molting, but what excuse do the others have ?
it's funny that we say stuff like this and when they are all laying, it's like holy cow. you could try adding some light if you want to go that route.

it looks like I am the next one to join the ranks of those that are dealing with a poultry lice issue. Thankfully, it is just over a week til we move and will be starting in a clean fresh coop that no one has lived in for several months. Right now I have sprinkled DE in their favorite dust bathing spots and in the coop and nest boxes. I was reading that the lice can only survive without being ont he host for a day or 2, so I am really hopeful that with the move and a little extra TLC, we will have this under control in no time.
