I'm taking pictures for an Online Cochins International Show. Each bird has to have six pictures submitted of various poses and "parts" ( head, wing, feet)

This is one of my buff pullets (she came from Bob Hawes). I Just named her "Marilyn", because she is very difficult to direct at a photo shoot.



And of course, you all know "Rufus". He's so jaded about having his picture taken. I swear he just poses and yawns

FWIW the dust came and went here several times but the lice stayed. I went with the Ivermectin pour on (one drop under each wing, legs and at the tail) that was recommended to me and THAT did the trick. I bathed and dusted and all that jazz... not again. Now I also just had a breeder and long time judge tell me that I could use frontline. It works for a long time where the Ivermectin is out of their system really quickly.

Hoppy, My Ams were all laying like mad in the warmer weather but NONE are right now. None! Its been this way for a little bit now. Good news is that one of my Marans is squatting now so at least that means her hormones are warming up even if her ovaducts and the outside temps are still frigid.

for my future reference re: my future chickens and my future eggs... Can you eat eggs after treating with Ivermectin or Frontline? and how soon??

People will tell you to wait 14 days after treatment with ivermectin.

I go with 3 days.

And I'd even eat them before that.

I'm glad I'm not the only one whose Ameraucanas are not laying. My last egg from them was November 3. The Ameraucana x ? (NH?) that lives with the Ameraucanas is a laying machine! She lay an egg 14 days straight before she takes a day off.

I'm a little leery of Frontline. The Ivermectin does leave their system in 10 days (or less) but doesn't Frontline work for months? I'd like to know more about the chemical before I try it on chickens.

The other thing to keep in mind is that permetherin and other drugs in certain dog flea and tick treatsments can be lethal to cats - something to know if you keep it around, in barns or anywhere cats might get to it.

back generations were frizzled cochin to silkie but this bird is 3 generations in of crossing the frizzle feathered silkie type birds.

So would that be a frizzle and Silkie cross? More research to do
