Try de-icing that type of plane. The props are very intimidating since you really can't see them that well when they are spinning. Certainly don't want to hit it. And getting the fluid on the wings can be a challenge since it tends to blow everywhere but on the plane.
I had no idea those small planes were that common. I hadn't seen them up until this week. The people with the orange hand lights got really close to the spinning propellers which also caused me some anxiety. I've seen Indiana Jones... I know what can happen

I'll have to check out the Blue Seal feed sometime. Is that something you find at Agway?

I do not like small planes either, SCG. In fact, I get nervous on big planes too, but small planes are worse. The first time, I took Ativan, which was helpful, but I felt tired and nauseous upon reaching my destination. On the way home, I went drug-free, but I think I left claw marks in the arm rest.

15 years later, I used a tiny piece of that ancient leftover Ativan to calm my equally ancient cat when she died of old age at home.

I buy my blue seal at Knights on rt 3 in Disgusta. I'm pretty sure I saw some in TSC last time I was in, or maybe Aubuchon, but they didn't have a wide selection. I'm also pretty sure that Hemphill's in Vassalboro-ish has it. I see their signs for Blue Seal feed, but don't know where they are located.

I giggled at your post. On my way out of the plane, I let the copilot know if the holes in my seat from my nails were too large to ignore, to just send me a bill. I would have fought someone for a piece of ancient Ativan.

ha ha ha.... okay, that's more like here then.  I was looking at some RO eggs and Mottled Cochins.  I like mottled anything but have managed to talk myself out of these.  I figured they were cute enough to sell what I didn't want, keep a few for incubating and they are small so they don't take up a lot of room or food.  The RO on the other hand are for a project white RO here.  I aim to have three color in two years.  I should have two by the end of this year.  The next is work and IDK what I am doing so it may take longer but we'll see.

I wish you all the best with your Orloffs! I am bound and determined to work w/ Red Dorkings (thank you soooo much for introducing me to them), and Dominiques. I candled a couple of the eggs today, and I could see that something is starting to grow in there. Here's hoping that everything hatched alright :fl

So, my husband thought it was a good idea to put a have-a-heart trap in the shed part of our coop, just in case anything got in there to get to the feed. Well, a skunk decided it was a good idea to get into the shed and get caught in the trap. Needless to say, everything w/ in a mile of here smells like nasty skunk. :sick

I hope you didn't kill it in the trap. usually if you wait until morning they are so sleepy you can cover the cage with a blanket, move it and then release it far away.

Hey Lazy Gardener, your green house sounds great. We will probably consider one for next year. Do you have pics of it up here? Can you relink to them? I think I saw some back a few pages, if I am remembering correctly.

Welcome Geoaware!

My brooder is getting painted and will be done by the end of next week :) I am pretty happy with it. I used some plans I found on here, altered them a bit to make it studier for us. I cannot wait to get these chicks!

I was loving that warm weather. I refuse to believe it won't be back soon. I am packing away the flannel sheets!

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday!
No, I don't have pics posted, I'm a tech idiot. Perhaps I can get my H to help me with that, (thankfully, he's got tech brains!!) Maybe I'll do a group shot of green house, small 3 x 6 tractor both of which are finished, my group of chickies, and 8x8 tractor which is still stuck in my head. Hope to have that up and running by mid April. If weather cooperates and we have a streak of warm weather, I actually hope to buy the lumber and start building the frame work on a temporary cinderblock support to keep it out of the mud.

The only things I have caught in my traps are skunks, neighbors cat and a bobcat. Not exactly the things I wanted to trap. I was so dismayed to see the skunk the first time. But because it keeps happening I have a good method, once it's killed (in the trap). Make sure you're wearing long pants, tucked into socks, and a hoodie with the hood up. Two pairs of disposable gloves, one under and one over the sleeves of the hoodie. Bag skunk in thick trash bag. Put outer pair of gloves in another thick bag, bag skunk again. Repeat with last pair of gloves. Dispose of skunk. Go inside, wash clothes immediately in hot hot water with Fels Naptha laundry soap. Soak them, too. It may take 2-3 washes with the Fels-Naptha. Go immediately to shower. Also use Fels-Naptha on your skin and hair.

I have had the best luck with Blue Seal brand food. Starter, grower, egg maker/layer. Dumor I like the least. They poop twice as much on Dumor as they do on Blue Seal. Not that any of it smells good, but there is a much stronger odor from the Dumor "out put". I've had limited experience with Purina feed. I only buy it when I can't get the Blue Seal. The poop amount on Purina is still higher than Blue Seal, but it hasn't been as offensive as Dumor. I have not kept our birds on Dumor or Purina long enough to say there was a difference in health or performance over a long period.

Currently I am feeding Ducks, Geese, and Chickens.
You've sold me. that 50# bag is going back to the store. Blue Seal it is.
