Oh, one other question Mad Scientist. What breed do you suspect the cockerels are? I've had bad luck with RIR and Welsummer roosters. LOL.. I would still take them any way but they may end up dinner. Not sure if that is an issue for you are not.

Not an issue for me, just feel bad asking dh to cull. Since we don't eat them I hate throwing them away. I think the suspected cockerals are a welsummer and an ausrra white.

Windham is way to far for me to drive. Sorry. I'll probably go with the local person, once I check out their birds. Thanks for the info. though!

I have some Easter egger/silkie mixes for sale as well as a couple olive Eggers. They are about 2 weeks old.

These chicks aren't going anywhere yet, rather offload here than craigslist. I am in Windham. They are just going through so much feed daily and making a mess. I am going to be putting them in a big coop soon cuz they keep escaping their brooder and we have to run through the yard after them...dh wanted me to keep them all but we don't need 30 layers on top of my existing flock.

I am in Winham, too. I am looking for barred rocks and/or silver laced Wyandottes. I'm in a residential neighborhood and cannot have any roosters. I can only manage 4-6 pullets. Would you be willing to let only some of your extras go?

I could prob do 2 or 3 barred rocks, I don't have any silver laced wyadottes

Anyone here in the south have chicks in the week old or less range? My two broodies are having a tough time. I purchased 6 eggs. 1 has hatched with a major neurological problem and two others died before they were dry. I don't expect the others to hatch. I'm hoping to slip them a chick or two each. Thanks.

My accomplishment for the day. Installed a 20ft flag pole. Never thought that they could be so expensive. I priced out fiberglass and metal ones. Telescoping vs non-telescoping. All were north of $300. Then I found this one online for $50 with a 20% off coupon. The reviews were good on it so I took a chance. It is lightweight and can be easily removed if really high winds are expected. It is telescoping. Instead putting each section at its full height I left about four inches per section inside the tube beneath it to provide more stability. The base was set in concrete. And I have the stuff to convert it so I can raise and lower with a rope instead of using the telescoping part since that tends to seize after a while. I did lubricate the sections with a silicone spray but would rather use a rope and pulley system to raise and lower the flag.

Now the horses can salute!

I chased turkeys out of the barn and out of the garden. By this I mean I chased them around and around until they eventually tried a different direction-- out!
