Seeking advice: Web type caterpillars on my peony. Would it be ok to clip those branches of the plant and throw them into the coop for the chickens to eat the caterpillars. I'm leaning to yes, unless someone tells me otherwise.

Mine don't eat them or other caterpillars. Maybe because some are poisonous? I can't tell you if yours are or not, but be prepared for them to scoff at your offering.

Yes, some are poisonous and if they are fuzzy mine don't eat them. Not sure about the peony.

#1 BCM Pullet?

#3 Chantecler/Partridge Faverolle pullet?

Top right Roo or Pullet? The comb is much larger than the other BCMs.
You can't guess how jealous I am right now. This looks like pure Fav pullet and I am soooooooo jealous. Next, yes these look like pullet and cockerel. I think you have it rassightwards. I am surprised to see a cockerel with no color though so it might just be a very dark pullet. I will need a profile on it. Oh, that Fav.... I miss mine SOOOOOOOOO bad.

Thanks Ash and SCG and Melinda for the advice re: caterpillars. After cogitating on it last night, I decided that it would be better to torch them as Peony doesn't seem to have any pests that like to eat the foliage, so if something does eat the foliage, it probably wouldn't be chook friendly. Too bad, as I do love to see the girls destroy my pests!!!!!

Ok tried to get some with the Shanks too...
Here is Miss Squawky I think she thinks she is a flamingo

I dont know why I didnt think to check for spur stubbs on the ams. I am going to be out there groping them tomorrow morning. So far I am seeing no sign of maleness on any of the 4 I have so I am crossing my fingers.

BTW ash the two older roos I have from you are the nicest little guys so far. I can hear one crowing in the AM. They have been dubbed Clarence and Terrence by my husband hahaha.

Ugh 14 hour day at work today. I do not recommend this.

The little Fav is a stinker! Almost always the last one in. Makes me chase her around the coop several times before either hopping in the pen or finally stopping some place where I can catch her! But I love her colors and she has stolen my heart! I've named her Mabel. I can't wait to see the Marans full grown. They are such pretty birds!
