I was two months behind on this thread and I'm finding it so hard to keep up , it's making my head spin :cd you guys sure write a lot :D I hope everyone is doing well in this lovely soon-to-be-snow covered state of ours This lil guy I hatched out in December. Just thought I'd share because he's *KIND OF* cute :)
What a pretty mama and cute babies, and I love the names! LOL he is awesome! What is he? We are all ready for the storm, we bought a generator big enough to run the whole house after the last power outage. The piggies got two fresh bales of hay to add to their enormous nest and the chickens got a fresh one in the solarium too.

Both our phones did that. Even after I had told my phone not to earlier in the day. Grrr.

We've already got a couple of inches! I am heading out to play with the boys. They want to learn to snowshoe!

Gee, its quiet in here today. Its almost as though everyone is outside shoveling or something!

Well, we are cleared enough that if we have a kid emergency we can get out of the garage, turn the car around and get down the driveway. Also, the sledding hill has been rebuilt to the delight of the boys. And mom packed it down for them. Sheesh sledding is hard work!

I'm not sure where you are located but the tester I use, charges $10 for any number of birds. the first test you have to have a certain % of you flock (birds over 1 yr) tested (it could be 100% if you have a small flock and one of each breed. then after that, once yearly a retest and any new birds that you added unless they were hatched from your flock there.
pm and I will give you details.

Just to clarify - birds 4 months and older are to be tested. Also - testers are to go to the flock's farm - off site testing is being done away with. There is an upcoming meeting with the State of Maine Ag. Dept I am attending and this is being addressed.
30% of flock is to be tested 1st year - 10% each subsequent year - not just one of each breed - the tester will determine how many of each breed and sex to test after seeing entire flock.

Everyone please get your information from a Certified Tester or directly from the State. There is a lot of misinformation and just because things have been being done certain ways does not make them correct and they are being addressed.

Also - There is also a Certified NPIP tester in Bradford who is traveling to do onsite testing. If you are closer to Bradford than Wilton I can provide you with his info.
Thanks! :)
