Maine

I hoping we don't loose power too, mine eggs are in lock down day 19.
After 2 power outages and one self induced oops outage during my hatch, I bought a 410 watt power converter which will run off any car battery, it even has an adapter to fit a cigarette lighter. Next time I incubate, I'll be prepared, won't even be at the mercy of a fickle generator which chooses to not start when most needed. Incidentally, even after these outages which added up to at least 10 hours, I had an excellent hatch. Ash, re: humidity, I found that sponge worked great for keeping humidity up. I used some aquarium tubing with a 5cc medicine syringe attached to the tubing to fill directly from my sink. My sponge sat in a small container, and I found that if I got over zealous with adding water, I could siphon some back out to bring the humidity back into range.

My eggs are on like day 15 so I hope we don't loose power either. We don't have a generator, but we do have a wood stove to keep them warm. Out here in the sticks, we loose power every now and then.
kinsey228, where is chesterville? My husband is a UPS driver, but he still didn't know where it was.

hello fellow mainers I nave been offline since November. haven't talked to all of you in awhile. I got out of a 12 year relationship with my ex girlfriend back in November. I sold all my chickens when i left. so i could focus on what i was going to do in the future . sad thing is they were all 20 weeks old just about ready to lay when i sold them so the lady that bought them was really happy that i did all the work raising them to point of lay. well now im looking for chickens again ready to get back into it with a happier life to look forward too. im looking for standard breed layers. barred rocks, newhampshire reds, black austrualops, and white leghorns, looking for 5 females of each breed. i can get them thru a hatchery but just wanted to see if anyone had any forsale on here. thanks.

Welcome back.
