Good luck.

I'm growing the pink flint corn too, Ash! I'm not too confident I will get any, as I did not plant it until mid-June and the package says "100 days". Kind of a crap-shoot here in frosty acres, but pink cornmeal would be so fun! I'll have to buy a hand-crank mill, so each piece of cornbread or polenta will be worth $5 or something, but still, I desperately want some.
Oh, I know, this is why I bought it. I piut it in the run next to the Summer Cottage so it was fenced off and a spot that was highly fertilized since they say it is a heavy feeder. So far so good. Have you tried Trombioccino Squash? We have some and they are neat but I haven't tried them yet. Were your ears burning this morning? I was talking about you :)

Make sure to serve it with some liver and a nice Chianti.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
OMG Tim makes that sucking-tongue flicker noise every time I mention the beans. Thank you for making us feel ... understood.
And that picture is so NOT of Caramel eating your hair! Your hair is NOT that dark... blondie that you are. And she is A-dor-a-ble! the goat that is... feeling my foot approaching... gonna stop here

A person on one of my horse lists needs a temporary home for her older Aussie/Chow mix for about three months. The owner is undergoing chemo and cant have the dog with her. The dog is in VT but the owner will transport her to a foster and pay for all expenses. She has to find a place within a couple weeks. The sooner the better. Can anyone help or know of someone who can? The inn is full here otherwise I would take her.

That is totally my hair. It is dark, and it was still slightly wet, so darker. I'm glad you had a nice visit, and yes we were talking about you, Bucka, and your sweet husband.

The white turkeys are gone; 100 more yellow cucumbers have been picked... I didn't scare you away. Today was a success.

Uh-oh, I hope I was discussed In a positive light! I thought my ears were only burning because I was swatting at bugs.

I am not familiar with Trombioccino squash, so I'll have to look that one up. Maybe that can be next year's experiment.

So I have this 2 year old hen that is consistently laying a weird egg (at least the last 6 eggs or so). The egg looks like it was squeezed too hard: it is elongated. In addition, on one side, there is extra pigment about the size of a penny. It looks like a bruise, and there is always cracks there. Sometimes large cracks and a dent, sometimes small cracks.
I'll put a couple photos of today's egg. Has anyone seen anything like this, and what does it mean?

Very odd...

I have to take a moment and vent to you all because you're the only ones who will really understand my frustration and disappointment.

Monday mornings I take all my "countertop eggs" and prepare them for the fridge to make room for my new weeks eggs. While the coffee brewed, I took each egg, washed it, dried it and dated it. I was going to grab one more carton because there were a few too many for the one carton and all of a sudden my cat comes flying out of the upper cabinet (where she is NOT allowed to be), crashes onto the counter and goes flying out of the room. In her wake were 18 eggs (all but 2 crushed) splattered on the floor that had been previously organized by breed, neatly in their carton. The carton even landed in the dog's water dish, swelling it immediately, just to add insult to injury.

I am so mad and so bummed. It brings me joy to see all my eggs sitting in their little box and she destroyed them all.
