NOOOOOO!!! Chicken math in the making. You can't just have one silkie, b/c they sleep in a chick pile on the floor. So if you want a silkie, you need more than one. Then of course they MUST brood often... And on and on it goes! Not to mention how cute they are. Must keep up my defenses!!!

well pretty sad morning here on sunrise farm went to let the chickens out of there coops and 17 were missing. they were 6-10 week olds. found one in the bushes alive but pretty shakin up and one more came around at 10 or so. I had just moved them into this coop and pen area the nigh before and all day yesterday they were goin in an out of the coop but when I went to shut them in last night they weren';t in. didn't think much of it because they always in real late in there other coop. =( poor little buggers I have a beautiful buff brahma in the group and would really like to find an other one. pullet or eggs would be great if anyone has some or knows where there might be some i'd very much appreciate it. thanks

Thanks to Widget I've added three puffy little guys to the flock! Two black silkies and a white. The white was the only one feeling photogenic I guess. More photos soon!
What a cute little fuzzy butt!!

LG, While many silkies sleep in a pile, not all of them do. My 3 started roosting with my 3 cochins about 3 weeks after I got them.

This is my foster dog Homer. Look at that sad face. He really wants a family to call his own. He is up for adoption via Big Fluffy Dog Rescue. So if you or know someone who would love to welcome this guy into the family let me know. Homer is a shepherd, beagle retriever? mix, about 4 years old, 45 lbs. and he is neutered. So far he is a very calm laid back dog. Good with other dogs and cats. His previous owner passed away which is why he ended up in rescue. He has shown no interest in chasing the chickens.

So sorry. It is so tough to lose any bird but more so with the little ones.

Adorable :) Do you have facebook? I'd like to share the photo and info if you don't mind!

I think the 'dizzied' already rule the world.

And it is sad to me when an animal, loyal to its owner, loses them to death. Their whole world is gone and they mourn. I can't take anymore house pets so I am going to hope strongly for a loving a patient home for this boy.
