Maine

Finally finished adding two feet of fence to the top of the goat pen. Thought I was good to go. Not five minutes later I had two goats back on the porch.

Took a few minutes to get both back in and try and find how they got out. I think I have found the spot and secured it.

And in my attempt to get one of the goats I noticed footprints around part of the horse pasture that I know I did not put there. What the heck? It was around the front and look like they came from the neighbors. And there were goat hoof prints there too. So I am thinking that it was my neighbor trying to help get the goats back home. If not I am really really really irritated with people right now.

Completely NCR but I thought I would share anyway. Two of my favorite actors have recently celebrated birthdays. Richard Dean Anderson turned 64 on January 23 and Dirk Benedict turns 69 today.

Where did the time go?

And to at least make the attempt at making this post somewhat chicken related why cant Macgyver show up and build me a chicken coop with all the scraps of stuff I have around here. I already have the duct tape and Swiss Army knife.

Widgett: it can't happen unless you have some ABC gum, spearmint, preferably.

I'm getting antsy to start incubating some eggs again. This batch will put the home made bator to the test, as there are likely to be about 2 dozen. I know the bator is warmer in the center closest to the bulbs, so I'm thinking of using 2 egg cartons, and cutting each carton in half so there will be 6 eggs/section, then I can rotate the groups of 6 throughout all of the areas in the incubator to hopefully equalize the exposure to the warm/not so warm areas.

I showed my friend how to check her eggs for fertility. They're a nice size with nice large dark yolks, all fertile. I'm thinking that they'll produce some nice strong chicks, especially with the nutritional boost the birds will be getting this week, and next week during collection.
