Do you have some fertilized eggs to stick under her?  What kind is she?
after checking our eggs for a bit I have found some to appear fertile. We just put some in the incubator too. I was thinking of joining the Easter hatch along...so might purchase some too. We were hoping she would be an OE but she is not. She was all black and is now mottled. They think she could be part black copper Maran.

She is the friendliest of the group. I went to the coopand brought her warm oatmeal. She jjumped down and ate quickly and right back in. I checked there is 5 eggs there. My only question is where are the newly laid eggs now as there is nothing in the other nesting box.

the huge worm that is!
Yeah, quite the yucky sight!

Thanks, CoopChick and Quailtrail. I have the wazine in the water today and am trying to entice them to drink plenty! This was definitely a roundworm. Have been doing a lot of reading on wormers. Although I didn't want to, I have a feeling I will likely get into a 2x/year schedule. After the first dosing of wazine, I'll probably switch to a broad spectrum.

I jinxed myself, because last week I was noticing how good everyone looked and was acting. Then this week one of my rocks started keeping her tail down... in my limited experience that is always the start of something bad. It wasn't her, but another rock who pooped the worm. From what I gather, by the time the worms come out, they already have a big load of them... I hope I'm not too late. Wonder if worms are what killed my other rock last month.

I've been reading about worms too! I found some on my roost last week. Valbazen seems to be the best broad spectrum wormer. BYC'er Dawg53 is your man on all things wormy.

Purchase valbazen liquid cattle/sheep wormer or safeguard liquid goat wormer. Use a syringe without a needle to administer either wormer. Use one wormer or the other. Dosage for standard size birds is 1/2cc orally undiluted, 1/4cc for smaller birds. Redose them again in 10 days.
There's a 14 day withdrawal period after the last dosing.

These are our new little ones( well they are about 2 1/2 weeks old). Dad I'd a sizzle and mom is a Cochin/silkie.

Too cute Tammaclean!

Aww, she's a cutie! I like her white head contrasted to her speckled body. I am always amazed at instinct... hope some hatch for her (and you)! I secretly hope one of mine goes broody at some point and I can stick some eggs under her. Of course, I've got to get my bunch worm-free first!

I am still shocked it happened so soon...but I can so see her being a great mom!!!

LoveMyChicks, are there specific breeds you're looking for? There are a bunch of folks here who hatch chicks but knowing exactly what you're looking for would probably help.

I did it. I managed to go into TSC today and only come out with the bag of dog food I went in to purchase.

It was hard but I kept telling myself that my chicks are due in next weekend and I can wait. Plus, while they had plenty, there was nothing I was interested in. And it did not help that the labels just said assorted breeds. Same with the ducklings. Cute but assorted breeds. They were also having a blast making a mess of the tank they were in. Fun to watch. Even so I will wait until the end of April for my ducks.

On the foster dog front I have a family coming all the way from Rochester, NY to meet Bennett next weekend. If all goes well he will go home with them.

He so deserves a home and family to call his own.
