Not the best pictures...but they just sat there as I tried to get pictures all with 2 dogs looking on...

I'm going camping over the weekend, but as soon as I get back I hope to put many of my cockerels on Craigslist. A couple Basque, lavender Ameraucana, golden cuckoo Marans, (and some mutts, possibly OE) $3 each. Just thought I would mention it here first. They are about 8 weeks old.

I'm keeping a couple, but all the others are freezer-bound. It would be nice to have all 20 cockerels in the freezer, but I'm down to one small grow-out space right now.... Send me a pm if you are interested, -for breeding or for dinner!

So I guess you don't want a black silkie cockerel, then, do ya?

I've still got one I'd like to rehome/trade so I can integrate all of my silkies into one coop.

I just want to mention that I have a couple ads on Craigslist for some of my chickens. 1 white silkie rooster, 3 OE/EE hens and a mutt roo, and a sweet little one that is from an EE mom with a mutt dad. Also 3 black sizzle chicks. We are making room for our new Sultans and ducks. I also have some splash silkies in the incubator and a couple white silkies. I hope they hatch anyway.

We are also re-doing our coops since we had flooding this spring. If course we did have a crazy winter. I am also building a new coop in out garden for our Sultans. So in love with them!

HOORAY!!!

The chicklets (11 1/2 week olds) slept in the big coop last night & looked no worse for wear this morning! They'd been roosting on top of the tote I had in the small pen for them. The tote was actually for them to sleep in but whatever...

Everyone is looking very healthy! The big girls are gaining weight! They were so skinny from this winter I was very worried about them. Started fermenting their feed again with some added spices for health & worm control. Knock on wood...I think it's working!!

DH will be looking after them tonight & tomorrow while I take Mum to the dr.'s (routine visit). I get to give him instructions tonight afterwork on Chicken Chores 101.

Last we mentioned a chicken time share/co op idea. I am wishing that had taken off. I am putting up fencing with kids and while I love my chop saw and the kids seeing me, a woman, doing all this work, there are definitely days I would rather read in the hammock with the toddler or walk with the kids in the fields.
