Maine

I'm so sorry. I was a mess for a year after I lost my favorite one. I kept expecting to see her outside.

Thanks everyone! I was really bummed. I was dreading the weekend worried that I may have to put her down. I was thinking about necropsying her on Sunday but cleaned out the coop instead.

I too just lost my rooster a few months ago. He was so docile and friendly to people but guarded his hen fiercely. That night when i found him curled up next to her dead i was a wreck. He protected her til the end.

To Coopchick719 and Dodochick92, so sorry for your losses. Terrible thing to lose such characters.

I know I need to be patient, but there are so many warm weather projects I need to start, I can't hardly stand it! Top priorities: expand the chicken runs/ coop and build a fence for the dogs. Throw in prepping the garden, painting and clearing out clutter, there are just too few warm months to get it all done...
C'mon snow just melt already!
