Maine

Hi, Lazy Gardener! We live in a rural area, but the deeds specifically say "no poultry." We've got new neighbors whom we don't know yet, so don't know yet if they are okay with the rest of us law breakers! I do make wicked good fudge, so maybe I can influence their thinking, ha ha!

Speaking of "lawbreakers," this is the "roo" I'm not supposed to have, but he's just so cute & not crowing YET!

I think the chickens handle the heat better than I do. We're about to embark on a likely rainy camping trip, but I'm still looking forward to getting away. Our chicken sitters have been trained. Now that we're leaving soon though, we had one that needed bluekote, a pullet that flew over the fence, and I've got one in the house for a sour crop speed-treatment. Hopefully the chickens and our chicken sitters will survive our absence!

It looks like our heat is finally going to break after today.

I don't know how much more of it I can take. My office isn't air conditioned, I'm disgusting by about 10 am.

Anyone have fertile pekin eggs? Or fertile guineas?

I haven't heard back from my guinea lady. I will see her Monday. I think she has fertile eggs and keets.

I am frustrated that my sour crop hen has not improved at all. She may have some other underlying condition causing it. Tomorrow morning she goes back into the coop to sink or swim. :/
