Maine

The goat photos are great! Goats are a riot!
I'm sure they would like to help DH build the porch, but we're too busy to tend goats right now. I'm still celebrating the departure of the nine roosters last weekend. I hope they find a good home.

I'd like to say that we've started the process to get preapproved for a mortgage. We found a very, very, very exciting property (oh, acreage.....such acreage). Fingers crossed.

Interesting post lol. Yesterday I got the daintiest little pullet egg I've ever had. I took a picture so you could see. In the picture is a full size egg, a normal size pullet egg, and the little pullet egg beside a quarter.

If the middle egg was full size and fertile it looks like it would be a perfect candidate for your egg shape experiments & hatching.

Anyone else got hawk issues? I swear that the minute I let my babies out of the tractor, those hawks go on high alert. Babies out, hawks are screeching in the woods behind my house within 10 minutes. Evil creatures. Luckily, i have those babes well trained. It's rarely difficult to get them back into the tractor. They often come when called, and are still small enough that I can scoop 2 up at a time... if I'm fast, and sneaky. Can't wait till I get the new run finished. I'm getting the post holes dug, and the blocks set and squared off. Have 2 more holes to finish, 4 more blocks to set, then I can pour concrete, set posts, and start the fence. Low energy and high heat are slowing the work. I have sore muscles where there should not even be muscles. Lots of rocks, all requiring pick axe to lever them out of the ground. Also planting the last of my fruit trees. Have 4 left, then can turn energy to my HK mound. Still lots of dead wood trees to come down.

SCG, Those goat pics are great!!

bucka, did you send the roos to the auction?

Congrats collie!!

The roosters went to freezer camp after a trip to the butcher. My post was not very clear, because I said "I hope they find a good home" right afterwards, but I was referring back to the goats!

LG, I see hawks here but none have made real threats. The flocks' fenced in areas are pretty thick with underbrush and trees though. There are some open areas, but I don't see the birds hanging out there much. It could just be luck, I don't know.

Where is this exciting property? Central, up north? Just curious. I hope it works out for you.
It's just outside of Farmington. ^_^

We've started on pre-qualifying on the loan, and are going to meet up with the realtor on the property on sunday. She said the cabin needs work, but honestly, even just the land is worth the cost.
