I just flushed a rat out and it ran right past the guineas and they didn't appear interested.

I'm fighting with rats here, too. After I fixed the hole in the chicken run by the door hinge, they did not appear for a few days. Now they are back. I'm thinking they might be able to squeeze in on the latch-end of the door. We put a piece of hardware cloth on that end, but they still came in, so now I think the hardware cloth may need to go the entire door length. I had company and no time to deal with it today, so I just sprinkled some peppermint oil around tonight. Maybe they are coming in somewhere else, but the door area looks most likely.

Hello, I wanted to introduce myself. We live in appleton. We currently only have one little Sebright cockerel. But I'm planning on changing that this year. Last year I added angora rabbits to our farm, the year before that we got lamancha goats, American guinea hogs and silver fox rabbits. Oh, and bees.

This year we are going for swedish flower hens, Ancona ducks, guinea fowl for tick patrol, American buff geese, and another nuc of bees.

I crazy for heritage and endangered breeds. I figure if I'm going to go to all the trouble of hauling water for my animals, Iight as well be preserving endangered livestock while I'm at it.

My husband and I live off grid with our two young daughters.

Welcome, Jamilynn! I had to look up Guinea Hogs. Are you breeding them? Interesting. I'm working on hubby... trying to interest him in getting a 4 legged animal to diversify our meat harvest. So far, no go, even though he says he's getting tired of eating chicken! Sounds like you have a wonderful set up. I think Appleton is a beautiful area!
