Maine

I, actually, do not like fiddleheads. Or lobster. Or whoopie pies. Or Dunkin (coffee or donuts). Hahahaha

You can send me all your fiddle heads. And I'll take your lobstah. And your whoopie pies. Dunkin donuts? No thanks. But, I'll take one of the Tim Horton's tractor tire donuts. I think there is something seriously wrong with you if you live in Maine, and don't like those things. But, it's a big state, so, I'll overlook this minor issue! What about blueberry pie? Or fresh picked strawberries, still warm from the morning sun? Or a new baby spud stolen from the plant to go with some fresh peas?

Never had fiddleheads until I moved to Maine 11 years ago. Love them along with lobster.
You can keep dunkin donuts. Y'all need more Krispy Kreme donuts.
Anyone coming to Clinton for the tree sale in a few weeks? I Am hoping to be able to get some fruit and nut trees.
Up to 39 chickens and 3 ducks now. Still no Welsummer, buckeye, or Maran yet though .

anyone know how high I should hang the electric blanket above 3 day old chicks in my pen? to start? and what tempiture ? i don't want to cook the poor things,

Hey guys. Saw you talking about fruit trees. I don't have any on my property and would like some even though I don't have much land. What are some things I have to consider? Soil prep? How long would it be before I see fruit?

I have yet to try a lobster roll, the only stuff I've had is at Red Lobster, so need to do some investigating as to where might be the better one to try before I say no to lobster. LOL
I haven't had fiddleheads yet, not sure about them.
Whoopie pies, we have tried most flavors and find the orange ones and the coconut ones are the best. Not a huge fan tho' really.
Dunkin, I grew up on those sugar pills and try not to visit too often. LOL Nor a coffee fan at all.

Ok, now to the chickens...I just finished going thru all the coop pages. (Took several days off and on) *WHEW* Stopped at most of the Large Coops to check them out and a few of the other sizes that looked really great! Lots of nice colors and cute and comical ones out there. After being here for two winters now and seeing how the snow and ice is here, I have lots more ideas whirling around in my head to build a really good coop for Maine. I was hoping to get to it towards the end of the year, but it may not happen now til next year as I have a ton of projects to do on the garage, gardens, building winter walls and paving driveway/walkway that must take priority. I did at least find out about the building codes and all here for my area (Lexington Twp) considering I am in an unorganized territory, had to go thru Bangor to find out about permits etc. so at least that is done.
Good news: I can have chickens! YAY! And no permit needed for anything under 750 sq feet (so long as no one is going to sleep in the building--except chickens).

Lots of projects to do here first!
I am so glad for this site tho' and in finding you all as I've learned a great deal. :)

Very nice brooder setup

Finally sold some chicks I put out roadside.
Couple stopped cause the wife saw them and said, "oooh chickens."
Hubby just turned around and pulled into my driveway. The lady at first said she was going to only buy 6
She even asked her husband if that was okay. Then she said we'll just get 8 that'll be okay right honey?
Before I can start picking chickens she says 10 is all we'll get... So I sold 10 of the 14 chicks Saturday.
