I have 11 two week old babies in my basement and 28 eggs in the 'bator... Praying I don't lose power!!!!!
we didnt need this snow . just when i start doing yard work the day before and bam . i just moved the other day too so still trying to get the chicken coop in order. snow go away.
Seems like the storm is winding down. Ended up with about 6 inches here. I am just going to let it melt since I have no energy to shovel. And since the snow banks had already melted the snow plow really didn't pile the snow up too much at the end of my driveway.
I did lose power for a bit. I have some EE hatching in the incubator and the temperature was down to 88 when I got home. The humidity had jumped up to 92% but it is going down now that the fan is working again. So far there are three chicks with another three or four that are pipping. This is out of 16 eggs. i didn't look too closely so there could be more pips.
This means that the basement chicks will be going outside this weekend even if there is still snow everywhere. They are old enough and the temperatures should be fine for them. That way I can kick my Buff Orpington chicks to the basement brooder and use their current brooder for the EE (father was a Lavender Ameraucana.) Can't wait to see how they turn out.
