They are beautiful. Where do you get your eggs? I had an emu egg that I kept on a display stand until one of the cats decided it was a fun toy to knock onto the floor. Fortunately she didn't knock the ostrich egg off the shelf. That egg has been in the family for over 40 years.

I also love the emu egg carvings! What do you use to carve an egg? I love that this is all done with using the natural colors in the layer of the egg shell. The only "egg art" I have attempted is through a dyeing/resist process. Here's one I did of the globe:

SCG does some beautiful egg decorating too. Great to see all these creative Mainers!

Cant wait until spring when I can hatch some more chicks!

hi henney penny from hudson maine

oh up date on my pullets i now have a dozen eggs from my chickens i just cant get over how small they are i think its going to take the whole dozen for just my wife and i for breakfast. my grand son already wants to hatch some out i told him he has to wait till we get bigger eggs cause them would end up as record small chicks but hes only 6 and he was here for my last hatchings so he knows that the chicks come from the eggs and he wants to start a flock of its own and my wife and i are going to build him a small chicken tractor for christmas and we are going to try to set him up with 3 or 4 pullets his dad said no roosters or hes going to have a fried chicken dinner the frist time it crows lol

What breeds of chickens do you all have?I`m in the process of trying to have just two breeds, orpingtons and silkies.I now have black, splash and buff orpingtons and one black.Am looking for black and white orpington pulliets and hens.My silkies are white, black, blue, partridge and one beautiful splash rooster.I love my chickens and have a wonderful dh that build things for me.

I have mostly EE's , amerecaunas, olive eggers, and silkies. I love colored eggs! And fuzzy little silkies, and the pea combs and bears and muffs.

I want to let people know I have alot of roosters available! It has been the year of the rooster at our house, I have 4 Amerecauna cockerels, 4 wheaten marans chicks, a barred rock EE cockerel, a legorn EE cockerel and a OEGB Wheaten Marans cockerel, and a Barred rock/australorp that I think is a cockerel....
I would like $5 each for the Marans and Amerecaunas, the others are free to good homes. Pics on request! Possibly I would even be willing to rendevous or deliver them if its not to far! I also have a pair of ducks that would love a home with a pond, I am worried they are going to be a wicked mess in the coop this winter. If anyone has any pointers for keeping ducks in a coop all winter without it becoming a frozen swampy mess in there, I would love some advice!
Edited to add some pics of the marans roo's and one of the barred roo's.
