Maine

Just some more chicken related pictures. I've been at home with the plague all day. Tired and bored.

They look like they are stalking her. They should, she is the ultimate egg destroyer! "I be care-uw mommy... crack!"

Big and little! I think little Mitsy the phoenix laid her first egg today!

Merry Christmas Everyone

I had -6 this morning when I got up at 4 and now it is 2 above. Gonna be a cold one today, guess I will haul water about 4 times today so my birds get enough to drink.

Hope everyone has a great day

Merry Christmas everyone!
A few flakes are falling here & my kids are bringing the first round of warm water out to the duck tubs as a Christmas gift to me & the ducks. Hope you all had a wonderful morning.

So, it looks my roo has some frostbite on his comb and wattles. My coop is dry and they have a heat light over the perches. It still drops below freezing in there, but I suspect he is getting the frostbite outside during the day when he's out in the wind? I don't know. My roo last winter had a little (less than this) but the old coop was really damp. What should I do? Poor guy.

My suggestion: lose the heat lamp and use either petroleum jelly or bag balm on his frost bitten areas, if they're bad. If they're not bad, leave them be. My leghorns get a tiny bit on the ends of their comb and wattles, and it's pretty minor so I don't treat it.
