I think it is in May,these are some of me new silkie babies that hatched yesterday and today, have more to hatch out in the next few days. I love babies!!!

If you're looking to order specific breeds of hatchery sexed chicks in the central Maine area, I'd suggest Knights Farm Supply in Augusta or Aubuchon Hardware in Waterville. Note that the Aubuchon in Augusta does not sell chicks or chicken supplies, at least not last time I went in.

Knights is family owned and operated, and they're really very nice. I went in there today to spend a small fortune on 2 weeks worth of poultry food and asked about chicks, they said they were planning to order them early this year, February-ish. Aubuchon in Waterville is hard to beat for customer service and I'd say I usually see their ads around March/April for chicks.

Lastly, many of us on here will be selling chicks this year, whether at swaps or out of our farm. Obviously they won't be sexed, but extra roosters are always delicious. If I can learn to do it, so can you

Okay, now I have questions. Can you pre-order just a few chicks from either Knights or Aubuchon? Last year, I drove all the way to Buxton for 3 chicks, because they have a pre-order form. You can select from a list of breeds, and they have pick up dates each month (you must have to get your order in a month in advance).
I am thinking that if I get anything this year, though, it will be some super-layer, like a golden comet or leghorn, so I suppose any local store would have those!

You'd have to call them to be sure but I do believe they combine orders with other people to meet the minimum...

you can pre order from tsc or pick from what they have but i found out the hard way that if you want baby chicks to be there the day they come in cause they sell out fast at least in the bangor store and in bangor they started chick days in april and the last order of chicks was in on may 3rd and that order was only 24 chicks and i got a dozen of them and was lucky to get them cause someone else brought the rest of them while they boxed up mine
