Maine

I have Heritage Delawares that are 14 weeks old. I am selling 3 pullets with a rooster for $45.

That would actually be perfect... How soon would you need them gone by? I'm only just starting to pick up coop supplies, and since I've never built anything like this before, I'm not sure how long it will take me.

Yes, the ducks anatomy was slightly different. The crop is located further down in the body cavity and the hip bones are different due to the way a duck walks versus a chicken. The general principle is the same, though.

I have the stock parts boiling down in crock pots, the smell in here is amazing. Hopefully I don't smell like roast chicken though at work.

Don't worry about smelling of chicken stock at work. So many people eat chicken soup when they are sick, - they will think you are dispensing it. :p

What a cute surprise to come home to!

My husband and I went away for the weekend (first time in 12 years I have spent a weekend away without any kids at all!!!!!) and my mother stayed at our house to take care of all the animals. I spoke with her yesterday and she said that Pete (the Sizzle hen) was acting funny and wouldnt come out of the coop at all. Made me a little nervous. By the time we got home lastnight it was a little after 8 and I headed out to check on the chickens. I found Pete in her favorite nest box, sitting on 2 little eggs. So thats why she was acting funny! She has decided to try and hatch those eggs:)

Good one!

I've got some roast chicken and potatoes with gravy from the drippings and some stock (from last years butchering) for lunch today. Hopefully everyone will see and smell it and then will wish they too smelled like roast chicken :)

Man, today's been so busy!! This afternoon was a big family get-together/dual birthday BBQ, and I spent this morning learning how to slaughter, pluck, and disembowel chickens (Thanks for the awesome time, superchemicalgirl!). Then tonight, I'm going to try and finish readying one of our garden plots before the bugs get super terrible. I'm exhausted, but I love everything I'm doing right now. Tomorrow, I'm going to price chicken coop stuff and then, Wednesday and Friday, I'll be volunteering down at Hatchet Cove Farm. I'm so excited to get my own chickens! I just wish I had my own land so I could start a small farm for myself, hah.

mountaintopsilkies, Congratulations on the win!! That is one beautiful little bird.
Thank you MKandtheforce!
