Anyone interested in Pheasants? My friend has Jumbo Ringneck and Malanstic for sale, these are 8 weeks old. She is asking $6 for each. She also has Ringnecks that are 2-3 weeks old for $4 each. She is a lisenced seller.

She also has a breeding group of Black Spanish Turkeys consisting of 4 hens and a Tom that are just over a year old, she is asking $100 for them

My broody is being really confusing to me. I expected eggs to start hatching this weekend, but now it is cold and she keeps pushing a few specific eggs out to the edges to get cold. I have almost no Maran eggs left under her to begin with and THAT is what she keeps pushing out.

I'm telling myself its so they all hatch together since the Marans went in two days before the Ams but I BETTER get some Maran chicks out of all this! I now have an incubator just in case. I might never leave a broody again if this doesn't get less confusing/stressful soon.

Am looking to pick up some buff orpingtons, I am wondering if I can mix them from separate flocks or do they have to be kept apart? Any for how long?

If they are young and all around the same age you shouldn't have any issues. But if you already have chickens I would keep the new arrivals separate for a while to make sure you don't bring home any health problems.

I usually quarantine for at least a month, sometimes more. Also, when you finally combine them, there is less pecking if they can live together, but separated by chicken wire. Mine fought through the wire fence quite a bit, but seemed to work out most of their differences before I threw them all in together.

Hopefully the hen knows what she is doing, moving the eggs around, ashandvine. I've only had a broody hatch eggs once and I only gave her two eggs. One hatched and died, so she raised the other alone, which isn't ideal, but it is really fun to watch a hen raise her chicks. If she is not separated from the others, be watchful that she is able to protect her chicks. Mine had to raise her lone chick in isolation, after someone put a big gash in the chick's chest.

pictures of my 5 week olds with momma hen. looks like 2 roos and a pullet. they are eggs hatched from my flock. white leghorn /white rock cross/ rhode island red/ red sexlink.

so i did end up with 2 roos and a pullet out of these 3, they started crowing at 5 weeks. almost 7 weeks now. im keeping 1 roo and my brother is taking the other, so it all works out lol.

Well the past couple of days have been good for me.

Found out yesterday that my job is secure for the foreseeable future. Long story as to why it wasn't for the past few months. Now it feels like I can start living again. Oddly enough I did get a nice bonus for my ten year anniversary with this company just a couple weeks ago. And today I finally sold my truck. Didn't get as much for it as I wanted but I can pay my property taxes for the year with a bit left over.

I also learned that my six dogs make terrible guard dogs. The tow truck just came for the truck and not one of the six even barked. The lab did sit on the couch and watched the tow truck driver. The rest just snoozed on the floor including the two Pyrs. So when I come home someday and everything but the kitchen sink is missing I'll know why.

I think only the Muscovies actually cared. They liked to hang out under the truck for the shade or as shelter from the rain.

Wow, they started crowing young, blueseal! I have chicks that are 8 weeks old today, but no crowing yet. In fact, while I know the sex of some, there are several olive-egger-type mutts that I'm really not sure yet. I'm hoping to separate them out in the next month sometime.
