Showing off the two newbies from today. :) Buttercup is the pullet. If we keep the cockerel, he'll be dubbed either Spartacus or Westley. Can't decide if I want to keep him or exchange him for a pullet....

I have hatched out some Icelandics, hoping to get some more eggs to hatch before winter sets in. I have 3 now, had 4 but lost one. I also got into the Buckeyes, they really seem like an interesting one.

Thanks Paulajon,
If they are coming from McMurray, they are probably Easter Eggers, rather than true Ameraucanas. Now I'm starting to think maybe I should try Icelandics .....
So many breeds to try!
there is so many breeds, and its so interesting to learn about them all. I have 6 hens and 1 roo from them ameracauna the hens lay the blue eggs. could be EE for all I know lol....

Hi Polly, I really like the looks of the blk and gray avatar, what do you get from them as far as what the chicks look like ?

they pretty much look like their parents. I have one chick now that is identical to them but still can't tell for sure if pullet although am leaning towards pullet. I really wish I knew for sure what breed and mix they are.

do you sell any hatching eggs from them ?

right now they are in with my whole flock as I needed their pen for a broody hen that decided to sit on eggs in the nest box and I was afraid the chicks would fall to the floor and not be able to get back to momma. I could put them in another pen but I only have the one hen so would take a while to get eggs together.

Ok, will get them seperated tomorrow, I do have another rooster in the pen they are in now but I think this grey one keeps the grey hen for himself. That will give me time to make sure that only the grey gets her. she lays a green egg. She has ear muffs and beard with pea comb. He is identical to her except he has 5 toes.
