Are those Dominique girls? If so, you are very lucky. They are the most affectionate, best mothers ever. Ours sat on 12 assorted eggs and hatched every one, and loved them all equally. It was so funny to see her with her brood of all different breeds. They are the best! Sorry you are on duty, but they'll be there when you get back, and you'll love them even more. Best of luck to you, stay safe.
No they are not Dominique girls. They are barred rocks. I have 3 girls and a rooster. The lighter one is my rooster. They are my favorite, and I think that they like me the most. out of the 11 of them they follow me around the most. I just hope they wont forget who i am. :)

This is the first of four to hatch out between yesterday evening and this morning. There was one making its way out while I was trying to take pictures. They are so cute with those poofy cheeks.

I have 3 cockerals that are getting culled in the next few days. They got spared today in hopes of rehoming.....
1 very crested Swedish flower hen, I am only keeping my non crested roo because my girls already have big crests..
Swedish flower hen roo is red, black and white. I can get a pic if anyone is interested.
1 blue orp cockeral, at least 75% English, stock came from Julie(bama) and Joy. This boy is going to be huge and I was going to replace his dad with him but the family likes dad too much...
1 jubilee orp, I suspect cockeral, but not 100% sure. Would rather give away than make that mistake...

Whereabouts are you located? I wish I didn't already have a cockerel here, I'd love to take that blue off your hands! (Assuming he wasn't aggressive anyway?) Only one coop though, so I'm probably better off sticking with just the one guy I've got I suppose.

Do you breed your orps? I've been looking for blue and splash for our flock, but haven't had much luck finding any pullets my way.

Ashandvine, those are some adorable chicks!

I am not hatching anything right now, I am going to be focusing on lf choc orps so I am not sure if I am going to hatch any b/b/s. I am waiting for my choc boy to grow up right now. I may hatch some to increase my black hen numbers but will not be growing the blue and splash birds. Just too much work and expense if I am not keeping them, so chicks would be sold straight run.

In other news....my hedemora hen is broody and has hatched 7 chicks so far. I pulled them because when she got out of the nest a chick fell from under her wing and alarmed her and she attacked it. I promptly pulled all the chicks, not sure if it was the best idea especially since I wanted to be done with brooders for a while. Problem I have now is telling which chicks are pure....I have one roo but 3 breeds of hens....guess time will tell, the hedemora roo and hen are both soft feathered so they pure ones should be soft feathered....been a while since I looked up feather type genetics...

I know one of the babies is a Brahma x hedemora because it has a modified pea comb...cute fat thing

Oh my, so gorgeous!! As soon as I hear back from my mother about Spartacus I'll let you know about the blue boy. Crossing my fingers she wants Sparty since she doesn't have a roo anymore. :D Is it the angle or does he just not have much of a tail? I don't know much about English bloodlines, other than the size difference.

Here's the first of my babies here...

First ones are of the OrloffxAms and then these two snugglers are the Ams: Splash and Blue. We are hoping for a few more out of the other nests. LOVE blue.
KLF... your Blue Orp boy is welcome to mate over here! :)
