Maine

Oh, I see. I didn't realize you already had a certain number of panels you are working with. Your pen is quite large (which is nice). Ours is 12 x 24.
When it came time to divide it, I took some old screens (approximately 8' x 3') that we took off the porch that we plan to replace someday. I nailed a mishmash of screens, some vertical, some horizontal (so I could climb over it), added chicken wire here and there and called it good.
It is what SCG would call "ghetto"

. It does serve it's function though.

I lived in Langley Park and Baltimore... I know ghetto!

It doesn't have to be pretty, just functional. My ducks love their ghetto coop.

We have had a few more babies hatch here and one died. We had a sad accident and it was found expired under momma this morning. The kids knew it might happen so that lessened the blow but initially they were very very upset. They went and buried it at the edge of the property this morning.

Trying to build more next boxes here to be ready for winter when they will all be stuck inside their individual paddocks instead of able to share boxes.

Oh no! I'm sorry you lost one :(

Windham Town Council voted last night (8/14) 5:1 to approve chicken ordinance. Up to 12 hens in moderate and light residential zoned areas. Housing & fencing rules...reasonable. To my neighbor who already has chickens...you are legal, now!

Congrats, Windham! I had no idea places in Maine that weren't Portland or Bangor or some uppity little city had banned chickens.

My neighbor was out sniffing around in my yard yesterday asking me how many birds I had (she left with a dozen eggs, some jam and a lie). I accidentally severely underestimated the number in case there was some kind of a limit, although my town doesn't even have building codes so I'd doubt it...

How many did you say you have? 25?

I don't think Waterville allowed chickens until just recently, .....perhaps not even now, but it is in the works. LePage used to be Waterville's mayor. I will bite my tongue now, as it is not polite to discuss politics or religion on a large family-friendly forum.
