Maintain good health in mud season?

It's the first day above freezing in months-and the first day that mud bogs have started forming. In an ideal world, the chickens wouldn't be hanging out around mucky puddles and gross mud. The reality is that spring in New Hampshire is mud season (though it's not spring YET!)

With horses, spring mud presents a host of potential health concerns. I'm assuming it's the same with chickens, but I'm not quite sure what to watch for, and what preventative measures I should be taking.

Tips from the pros?

Thanks for sharing that-I felt like the whole thing was written for me personally ;)

We are planning a whole scale revamp of te footing and run roof this summer (adding a solid roof vs current hardware cloth)... Just need to make it to summer to work out there.

Would love to hear other health tips, given that mud will be part of our lives both in and out of the run in the near future.
