Ingredients for keeping many chickens:

1 - Have plenty of property

2 - When you meet the guy you are going to marry, bring into the marriage - 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 horses.

3 - Stay married for over 20 years.

4 - Allow horses to live out their lives and pass peacefully one was 38 and one 25.

5 - Promise your husband you will never own horses again.

6 - Let husband know that horse care averages $40.00 a week.

7 - Let him know that chickens on the other hand are a bargain and they will pay for themselves in the long run.

8 - Never tell him the difference

9 - Husband needs to be a builder (for additional pens)

10 - Keep him Happy!

Add all the ingredients together and you too can have all the chickens you want!

You are one smart chicken lady (thanks for the great ideas

)! Your chicks are gorgeous!

ha ha! I like your list!
I'm sure by next spring I'll be in those hatchaholics meetings with you guys.

Spot looks great! I'm sure he has a better name by now, lol!

I cannot wait until next spring! I need help now!

Spot has no name yet but she is happy and likes to snuggle. I am too busy looking for eggs, incubating eggs, hatching eggs, brooding chicks, buying chicks, selling chicks, feeding flocks and other critters, to name them just now.

Chicken TV is when you have a chance to sit down and just stare mindlessly at your birds. By my calculations, chicken TV starts in May. That is when the banding of those not yet banded and naming begins.

My horse was about 34, its been years and I miss him!

DH is already gawking at the 13 we have coming on Wednesday. I'd have to do a lot of 'keeping happy'! I'm hoping to be getting a couple Marans shortly after my first bakers dozen. I'm already planning another coop and I don't even have my first built yet!
