Majestic Farm Chicken Trail

I wanted to share a quick update: 7 BBS Silkie chicks hatched Thursday.

Last night into today my Buff Orpingtons from hinkjc are hatching. So far I have 4 from the General and 3 from Rocky. Gooo chickies!

1 Golden Sebright from an ebay auction has hatched as well as

1 chick from a test hatch from Bodyflight.

More to come and I will try to post pictures sometime Monday.

Thanks for the eggs ladies!

The April 2nd thru April 5th hatching results are in:

7 BBS silkies from my pen=100% hatch

Will post pictures here.

11 buff orpingtons from hinkjc=11/16=69% hatch. Paid for 12 and Jody sent 16. Very happy with results. The other 5 were not fertile/viable.

These belong to the General:

And these belong to Rocky...notice that they are all darker:

6 test hatch chicks were born from eggs shipped from bodyflight. Dawn sent a dozen and 6 were viable=50% hatch. My incubator was full and so I had a staggered hatch with them. Only 2 of the last 6 were viable and I wonder if it is because they had to set longer than the others.

You can imagine. For the first two weeks they stay in a sterlite box on top of my dryer. You should hear them sing when I am drying blue jeans
