Major Cold Snap (wind chill -30s)

Not me! I live here so I can complain about the weather ALL the time; too cold, too hot, too wet, too dry, whatever. BUT, no big earthquakes, no tsunamis, no hurricanes, likely no fires. Delightful!

My coop iced in the ceiling so I winterized. I closed my windows and put plastic over them. Left my top vent open and blocked window drafts with curtains. I put a tarp over the coop and run to block winds and drafts. Now my locks don’t freeze. I have a heated waterer base and put a fireproof K and H heating pad from Amazon in the coop on the wall. My birds love the coop at night right now due to freezing temps. They are out during the day when it’s warmer. I put the K and H heating pad up with industrial Velcro so would not have to screw in with drill that way removable in spring. I have indoor outdoor cording to an electric box. All fireproof. My heat goes on when below 30 degrees due to risk of frostbite. I also added straw in the winter instead of pine mulch as holds heat better.
