Major Mortality rate what could be wrong with my flock? HELP PLEASE

omg Melissa thank you so much for sharing those pictures, you have a beautiful flock. I am so sorry this is all happening to you, I will keep you in my prayers. Just a thought: some antibiotics have an expiration date....maybe if you call some local vets or your local co op or TSC they can donate to you expired antibiotics....they still work just as well, but they have to take them off the shelves once expired (or they should anyway)....its worth a try to get some free stuff, who knows you might run into some luck. God Bless you......please update us in a week or so and let us know the latest....

Please let's don't get this closed with this kind of inflammatory thing.
This thread is something we can all learn from and I for one, would like to know what this turns out to be. We are ALL ignorant as to what this is-if she knew what to do, I believe she would already have done it.
Melissa, I'm so sorry for all of the bad things happening to you right now.

I certainly hope all of this starts turning around for you soon.
If you don't hear from your State Vet soon, let me know and I will send the updates to our guy here in Texas-I believe he will help if at all possible.
If I lived closer, I would bring you every antibiotic I have to try.
Prayers for you and your family.

I am so sorry to hear of your situation...I have read every post here just to get familiar with it. I wish I had an answer for you. Sounds Like E.N.D. to me and most symptoms seem correct. If you get a definite diagnosis and it's curable let us know. I'll send you antibiotics myself to help if you find out they'll work.

Melissa, I sincerely apologize for my insensitive remarks. I truly hope that this matter is put to rest as quickly and painlessly as possible.

I've been involved in a somewhat similar type of biosecurity scare in California a couple years ago. The primary difference was that I was just a consultant in the matter and these were not my pets and not on my property. I cannot even imagine the anguish this is causing you, on top of how tough everything else already is with the economy, job market, etc.

I'm very sorry.

le neige homme I just want to say thank you for that. It's not often someone will apologize these days and I appreciate that a lot.
Thank you
Melissa

I feel terrible for you. I am learning quite a bit about what to do in a situation like this. I would not have known where to turn or what to do.

All the help you have received is wonderful. Now if you can just get some answers. Know that we care and you are not alone

Just to get off of the END theory (Hope it just a theory) there are several different diseases that can
present itself to appear to be END.

Differential Diagnosis
Newcastle disease may be confused with the following diseases (see References: OIE: Newcastle disease; King 2008):

Management errors such as deprivation of water, air, feed
Highly pathogenic avian influenza
Fowl cholera
Infectious laryngotracheitis
Fowl pox (diphtheritic form)
Coryza
Psittacosis (chlamydiosis) (psittacine birds)
Mycoplasmosis
Infectious bronchitis

Taking into account everything the OP has written about the animals that have died ( chickens, deer, rabbit, ducks, chicks, turkey, and a calf) just about any
one of the above diseases or problems could be the cause of the deaths on their place. But even if it is one of the above which hopefully it most likely
is, it is still serious when you are losing all the animals that have been lost.
Stll it's always better to prepare for the worse and hope for the best.

With the rain will come skeeters, and one of the things they carry and will affect many species is West Nile Disease. Just another possibility to look at.

We are saddened by your loss..Boy its tough when you are having economic hardships them to be hit with this..We really feel bad for you..

You might want to take a broader look also ,check to see if there are any water issues in your area...Has there been any gas drilling local, water quality good?
Check with cooperative extension to see if any new diseases are presenting themselves to be cross species..its free advise, and if there is a problem locally they will come take samples and investigate water and soil for free..and necropsy is free cause its a state issue if it goes beyond your farm..If there is some bussiness activity in your area that might affect water or soil or feeds ect.. you might be ableto collect for damage..If its disease they need to know about it and they will or should help you find solution.. You must have a local farm co-op or cooperative extension to call..You will probably have to fill out some forms and wait but It should be looked at and that is what your local ag agency is supposed to do.they sghould also help you get this resolved..

... there was a rash outbreak of west nile virus here a few years ago, and it affected every species..you would see dead rabbits, squirrles , chickens, sparrows ..it was pretty frightening.

We also had a severe outbreak of potomic horse fever a few years ago and even vaccinated horses developed severe symptoms and many died, corrnell university came took soil samples water ect. they are not altogether sure what causes it , but they think it rains a lot and the soft bodied snails or slugs might be a carrier.they are everwhere here in rainey season.

Whatever the cause agriculture is the most important feature of the USA..We are the worlds bread basket and no one does it better than the local farmer who cares about his stock.. There was a huge problem in Hicory Pa from gas well drilling..goats cattle deer racoons ect...dying from drinking water contaminated by marcellus shale runnoff.

We hope you find some solutions and keep us all posted.
