At how many weeks will the chicks start showing if male or female? What physical signs do I look for?

Thanks! These were hatched in my sons class and came from a mixture of eggs from a few places so nobody has any idea of the breed! I do notice one has longer tail feathers growing than the other, and starting to get a little comb......they are about 3 weeks. Hoping for atleast one henit all really depends on the breed. by 4-6 weeks roosters tend to get red and larger combs while hens will still be small and pale. The easiest time is once they are several months old and the roosters will be getting "pointy" saddle feathers and hackles.
some people say the chicks that feather out first are hens but I have never found that to be true. good luck! Thanks!
