Make shift incubator/hatcher?

I hope you can figure things out in time.
I am pretty sure you will.
:fl
Or lose my damn mind and blow it up I'll get pics in the morning it's kinda like what I had before but with a heating pad ment for pets. I was tempeted to be a reptile heating pad but then I can regulate the temp like I can bearly do with the one I have now!

Right so my day was half carp. Did not have to cook today which is nice. Went to start doing my run with the hubby. Started chucking down rain so we only got the frame for one side done it's roughly 13' long and 7' high.

We still have 3 large sides to build. Run might be a bit smaller then I wanted but it's some place to keep them while we put up a new fence and get grass laid down again.

The ghetto bator seems to be holding at 37.5 for right now with humidity at 45% which is good. Now if I can just keep it that way that will be great I need these chicks to hatch as this lot is sold when they do hatch I'm on back order for more chicks from my own flock and I'm trying to hatch out new stock for my flock.

I have thought of trying turkeys most cuz turkey tastes good and I would love to raise and process my own and have a feather in my cap if you will buy hatching raising processing and delivering a great Xmas meal to my hubby's family!

OK ghetto bator is holding at 38.5-39c so this might just work!
Hubby let me put a bid in on the turkey eggs which I won. I only bid on them because I got 4 eggs (did not want 6).

After this lot of eggs I'm going to stop buying eggs for the season and focus more on hatching from my own flock again and adding new breeds to my flock.

OK just read some place that still air incubators like my ghetto bator works best at 101-102 if thats the case I'll be fine! I even had someone else to be put on a chick waiting list (frickin breasea thanks for packing up!) most on the list seem to want at lest 5 chicks so I need like 30-40 chicks roughly :thto fill those orders!

I have 6 salmon faverolle hatching eggs,12 buff orpington hatching eggs and 4 bourbon turkey hatching eggs coming sometime next week! I should have my new heka bator sometime between the 9th of april and 11th of april!

struggling to build the chicken run which is going to end up slightly smaller then I wanted but hey it's going to be a covered run and it's still going to be roughly 238 sq ft so I'm ok with that.

OH and lock down is tomorrow for the chicks

Sorry.

Can you run to the store and get a few extras?
I wish I could all the stores closed at like 7-8pm last night none are open today think I need to fix it last today. I did break down and search for sec hand bators found 2 that looked decent emailed sellers hopefully they will get back to me today... Seriously tho brinsea should be better made special when they like to tout they are the best etc. What a load of rubbish in my case

OK today is lock down day and everything is going pear shape and it's only 6:18am (as I'm typing this and last looked)

I have decided to try making another ghetto incubator as a back up plan. I have decided to use a 80 liter plastic storage box that has styrofoam placed on the bottom and up 2 sides (ran out of useable styrofoam) I decided to use my titan electric brooder hen as the heat element it's 20w I think I have it up as high as it will go on it's legs so I can lower it if need be

I have found a largeish shallow dish (it's actually the plastic storage lid to one of my tefal pots) I'll be having the hubby drill a few holes that are easy to block up if I need more heat or humidity. I'm going to try and quickly calibrate my digital thermometer so I can place that in there (thankfully I have 2 digital thermometers/hydrometers).

Because the box is large I'm debating if I try to add the lid with the glass viewing panel into this new one to make the space small so the heat stays in a smaller area.. But will do that when I get to that point.

I have also messaged another seller of a sec hand bator as well so I might get lucky and one might still have a bator for sale and I can get it today in case this does not work!

Right so I have had this new ghetto bator going for round a hr and a half roughly and found there is a 10-14% temp variance (is that spelled right?) between the brinsea (when it worked right) and the digital, so right now the temp is just about right for lock down (ill have to be constantly on this one I really don't mind if I have to hatch them out myself in the end I have done it with every hatch in the brinsea so now biggie.

Going to get a the other water tray and sponge from the other ghetto bator, candle the eggs and their check air cells get the hubby to drill some holes in the plastic box the I can close up if need be and get ready for lock down.

I have lost a naked neck hatching egg I'm sure another is going. a blue lace wyandotte hatching egg as a very fine crack so I might lose that. 1 of the eggs going into lock down today is either stuck to it's shell or that brinsea bator is all over the place! I can't wait for my new incubator! I'm tired of brinsea now this is just dumb!
