Please make 100% your chickens are safe when around duck pond/swimming source. I ask this on behalf of one of my turkey poults who drowned in the duck pond and died, and one guinea fowl who caught hypothermia from not being able to escape the water. I was able to recover the guinea fowl :(

*You will be able to identify if your bird has hypothermia if it's head is shaking rapidly, it's wings are cold and purple, feet will be irregular color, and chest will be cold.

*To recover your bird from hypothermia: Dry the feathers, then microwave kitchen towel for 00:30-1:00, rap bird in towel. Then rap in another towel for isolation. Warm the wings and gently move legs- blood circulation will help your bird. Do NOT put bird into hot/warm water. It needs DRY recovery. Put it in safe warm place. It may sleep for a few minutes, this does not mean the bird is dying. It will be exhausted from swimming, and shivering. So be as considerate and gentle as possible until your birds awakens.

Sorry to hear about your turkey; but, well done on reviving your guinea fowl.

I had the same thing happen when one of my bantam hens took her chicks to the bucket for a drink instead of the waterers, I found it too late. Terrible when it happens. great you were able to revive you Guinea
