Make your own - No waste - 5 gallon (25# feed) bucket feeder for about $3

I have a question I'm gonna redo my feeders..I was wondering why only 1 inch off bottom of bucket. Wouldn't 2 inch be better for flow and since they can't waste any feed it shouldn't matter? Just curious before I build this

I think it's so you can let the feed level get pretty low before refilling. I have the PVC about 1/2 off the bottom on mine. The outside where they stick their heads in is pretty low. So I set it up on a low platform to make it easier for them to stick their heads in.

If it's too high the chickens can't reach the bottom, then The food on the bottom could spoil if you don't dump it out before adding more. That's just one more thing to remember to have to do.
